And now for something a little different

I have been starting my own sweet potato slips and have a set well along already. Three types. I select relatively thin tubers that will fit down the throat of a hyacinth bulb glass and strike the stems into regular potting soil. Then I pinch them to get a decent branching. All that under as bright lights as I can manage. I only keep half a dozen of each type. One of them has three rooted cuttings that each set a whole lot of flower buds. This is going to be fun if they actually bloom. Up here in Minnesota we usually don't get sweet potato flowers even outside in hot summers. I have seen single flowers and maybe two or three, but usually all we get are vines and leaves. If I get any actual bloom, I will post some pictures.
