Bathroom - Shades of White

I’m trying to update my bathroom without major changes. I’m working with off-white tile walls with black accents, which cover the walls half-way all around the room, plus the shower. I also have a sloped ceiling, so was planning to use the same paint color as on the walls. The space is very small but has a large west-facing window (half shaded for privacy at all times). All the fixtures are white, and the tile floor is beige.

I’ve found BM White Dove to be a good match to the tile, but am nervous about the room being too washed out with white everywhere. BM Dove Wing looks like it might work to add depth, but then I’m not sure which trim to use to contrast that without clashing with the tile. I really don’t want the tile to look dirty!

Wooo!!! Cat, I am stuck at home because of the snow storm so wandered around here not looking at anything in particular and came upon your thread. I totally agree with you on the shower curtain choice. Regardless of whether I have the money to spare or not, keeping those suckers clean is a nuisance over time. We have a glass shower door that was installed back in 2003 and I can't tell you how much I hate cleaning it. Not that the door is all that dirty, but a shower curtain is way easier, and you can change the look/style whenever you feel like it. Can't do that with a pricey shower door. Anyway, everything looks lovely as usual, including the "prom" dress :-) Love, love those circular tiles, and the floor tiles that look like fabric. Gorgeous. What colour is that again? It looks greyish on my monitor.

If trim in MBr doesn't work, try White Dove. Without seeing the tile in person I can't advise as to whether it will work. I like to prime and paint a piece of trim (about 12" or so) so I can get a good idea of the color and carry it around with me. White Dove is a no, go with a white that doesn't have obvious tones jumping out at you (yellow, pink) when you compare the tile and paint side by side. Again, working up a trim sample is always better than choosing off the paint chip. Try Cotton Balls (OC 122), Cloud White (OC-130), or Decorators White

Mixing a chantilly lace white vanity with simply white in bathroom?

At the last minute I switched the paint on the vanity to chantilly white because I read that it goes well with marble ( which is the vanity stone) but....I realized too late that it meant that the whole master bedroom would need to go to chantilly lace because the bathroom door is visible in the room and I think all the doors and trim need to match. Will it look odd if I leave the vanity chantilly lace and just paint everything else in simply white? I sampled both and I think I need the warmth of simply white since the room faces north and east.

Be careful to try out some samples, we have a north side bathroom and every paint I tried turned blu-ey or dingy. Gorgeous colors in other parts of the house, but not in the north bathroom. Our tile was marble also, with a dark gray floor and accents. Good luck!
