I had a bedroom light fixture replaced with an led fixture. It turns off but not totally. There's a little glow like a night light. According to my electrician BIL it is getting some power somewhere. This light is on a circuit with a lot of other ceiling lights. We did try changing the switch but it didn't change anything. Since this room is used as a sewing room we just live with it.

Have you tried without dimmable bulbs? Maybe the fixture isnt meant to have bulbs that dim in it.

The only way to control the ceiling fan and light is with the remote, no chains, no switch. The remote has the dimming feature built it.

That is why you get rid of the LED bulbs!

Did the LED lights in the fan come with it? If not, then you should probably replace them with conventional incandescent lamps. I installed some ceiling fixtures with integrated LEDs and they also wouldn't go all the way off, but I was using dimming wall switches and they had adjustments on the dimming circuit which solved that problem. They also had a fully "off" position.

It just means that the dimmer circuit in the fan assembly doesn't like LED bulbs. But as long as the faint glow doesn't bother you, no harm will come of it. You can also try replacing the bulbs with a different brand and see if you find some that work better for you.

The problem is likely the combination of the kind of switch (triac) used in the ceiling fan combined with the low voltage power supply for the LED lights. The LED bulbs have inductors or capacitors in there input stages that often play havoc with triacs being able to shut off. An electronic snubber added to the circuitry would solve the problem, which is very difficult to do now, but what you can do is to install an external snubber by replacing one of the LED bulbs with an old style incandescent bulb. The tungsten filament in the old bulb has resistance but no capacitance or inductance and often the addition of an old bulb in parallel with the LED bulbs is enough to allow the triac to shut off. A resistor of the proper value and power rating wired in parallel with the LED bulbs should work as well.

The problem is that the power requirements of the LED bulb are very low. I had LED lights that wouldn't turn off using the wall dimmer I'd selected to control them. I had to change the dimmer to one with a physical on-off switch to turn off the lights. Since you can't change the dimmer, swap out the bulbs for incandescents which draw more current (though you could also try higher-wattage or less efficient LED bulbs).

Re-reading your original post, the ghost currents are the result of the inductors and/or capacitors in the LED power supplies. Engineers remember this by the meme "eli the ice man" - voltage (e) leads current (i) in an inductive (l) circuit, while current (i) leads voltage (e) in a capacitive (c) circuit. To shut off, a triac needs the current to reach (near) zero when the voltage is at zero volts, but the leading or lagging currents from the inductors or capacitors dont coincide with the voltage waveform and may cause the triac to not shut off. A resistor in parallel with the triac load will often allow the triac to shut off as desired.

wdcruise: It's not the low power of the LED's that won't let a triac shut off, it's the inductive or capacitive currents present when the voltage waveform is crossing zero volts that keeps the triac conducting. These currents are present due to the LED power supply design. Same thing can happen if you use a triac to control a transformer or solenoid valve. If the triac current drops to zero as the voltage crosses zero (as it will with a strictly resistive load), the triac will shut off.
