Taj Mahal quartzite on the countertops and backsplash?

using white kitchen cabinets with Taj Mahal quartzite for countertops and was thinking of using it as backsplash as well. not much area to cover. Any thoughts? Pictures?

If you type Taj Mahal into the Houzz search box and select Taj Mahal in Pictures, you’ll find a ton of what you’re looking for. TM with on counters and b/s with white cabinets would be very pretty.

We were considering this for my Dad’s kitchen but he changed his mind to tile. I really wanted him to do the Taj for the backsplash! While deciding I met with the fabricator to discuss the plan and we worked carefully to avoid any Sean’s in the backsplash. A seam will be more visible and obvious when its vertical. Since you say it’s a small area, hopefully it’ll be easy to accomplish. Just something to keep in mind as you move forward.

Darker one for me. Looks great with the counters and leaves them to be the center piece. You have good lighting too so that helps it not feel too dark. The lighter ones IMO blend in too much.

I can't comment on the pearlescent question, but I can say that it took us a long time to find our backsplash for Taj Mahal. We ended up choosing Crossville Market Street Ashbury Collection 3 x 6 tiles in the color "Fleece Crackle." This collection has lots of colors, shapes and sizes, and there were several light neutral colors. There are so many zilions of tiles, it can be overwhelming, but this is the one we finally settled on. Crackle finish doesn't give you the pearlescence you are seeking, but it does give a little bit of visual dimension while remaining a smooth surface. When we were searching, we wanted a calm backsplash that wouldn't compete with the Taj.

We used BM White Dove In different sheens on the walls and woodwork to complement the polished TM Counters (but we have natural wood cabs). Our kitchen has north facing windows with lots of green trees. We compensated for the low light with 3000K (the warm-ish colored not the blue-ish colored) LED undercab and in cab lighting and sconces etc. The updated kitchen doesn’t seem dark or gray now which I was concerned about. I would definitely wait until you have the cabs installed, the counter in and some of the lighting wired in before choosing the backsplash. I was very surprised at how my original white tile choices didn’t do a thing for my counters and cabinets. good luck!

I'm thinking about this too! But thinking of doing Taj on our oversize island, some sort of quartz for perimeter, and Taj for the backsplash all the way around. Also white cabinets. What did you decide?
