One picture that shows the entire room with the new rug would help Are you using those mid century tables? Wall color is your last decision.

I am not a pro and I am very squarely transitional in style but I have to say that I love all of your individual pieces! Those tables are so fun! If you are open to refinishing you have so many possibilities. When you say that you think something is “off” what do you mean? My instinct (like Jck) is that it is hard to tell when at least the rug isn’t placed in the room.

I too need to see the whole space with the rug but right now love the tables the dog, the part of the sectional I can see and hate the rug so I need to see the space.BTW I dislkke sectionals they are IMO the most expensive way to buy the least number of comfy seats.

I get wall color typically being the last decision. I am open to something else, but our house is fairly small and we had planned on painting the house all the same white as this flooring is running through the whole house (besides bathrooms).

@Jessica I'm not sure exactly what I think is off. I'm thinking I don't love the couch? But not sure what direction to go in. If the couch shape, size, configuration or color is the issue. Originally I had thought getting a sectional (or in this case a modular one that we could rearrange) would help separate the entry way from the rest of the room and we could reconfigure as needed since we have a smaller house (roughly 1200sqft).

I didn't see your question before @jck910! We would like to incorporate one or two of the mid century tables if possible but are open to finding another home for them in the house as well as refinishing them. We don't have them at the house right now to look at in the space as they are coming from an out of town grandparent.

OK get it about wall color. I think the sectional is too large looking for the space and with it you really only have 2 seats. Look at small scale furniture: sofa and chairs. Can the TV be moved to the other wall? Then sofa on TV wall with 2 chairs in front of windows with table between them. IKEA has BESTA system for TV walls.

I think the tv could move? Boyfriend wired it thinking it would go on that wall specifically but I don't see why we couldn't move it and hang some art over the outlet that is in the wall there. He is 6'1 so ideally wanted a couch that he could lay down on which has presented some challenges.

I think the sofa is too big for the room and for the furniture.....return it and keep looking.....you could take one of the end tables with you when you shop to see if the scale works with the table.....you might consider something long and sleek and not so fat.......

I found these pics for inspiration for sofa and white rooms......the rug is minimasslist in pattern, so you might consider going that design way. Lots of legs in the room but gives a lighter look for more furnishing in the room.

Again smaller tables with slim lined sofa with long low leggy.....your room is not really roomy so you are on the right track for mcm. Also tried to find white paint.....which is your room color choice?

I see what you mean about the 'lighter' looking sofas vs the heavier block we have in the room right now. I think that may be what feels off about it.

@Susan Davis Right now our plan is BM Chantilly lace as that is the white we're planning on painting the entire house. I'm hoping with the smaller space this will help it feel clean, calm, and spacious.

Any suggestions as to where to find this kind of sofa? We'd like to get something that is going to last a bit of time and wont be destroyed by our dog. He isn't a couch chewer, but is always up on the furniture. Luckily doesn't shed.

Update; Well. We have decided to start the return process for the couch and are now looking for suggestions on where to source a sofa that might look nice in the space.

It's best to try sofas for comfort so I would try your local furniture stores first

Does that couch come in another color? Maybe w/o the chaise?

We can get different colors for it and removed the chaise but its still a little off looking

Just updated post with photos of the space now that the couch is returned. Looking for any advice that you all have to offer on the best way to decorate the space. @Susan Davis I see what you mean about a lighter looking couch and we have started a hunt to figure out where one might be sourced from!
