Comments (2)Yes, using essential oil and white vinegar (1/4 cup) instead of fabric softener is an excellent alternative to commercial softeners. Many recommend you use an oil that has cleaning properties such as citrus: lemon, orange, bergamot etc. but if all you are looking for is a nice fragrance that you enjoy any essential oil will work. The amount of oil can vary on load size and some oils are more potent than others. Experiment until you get the desired scent strength, begin at around 5-10 drops. Many drug stores carry essential oils in their cosmetic department. I work at Longs (now CVS) and we carry the Aura Cacia brand. If you want to buy in bulk there is a great website that I've found here: Here is a link that might be useful: Mountain Rose Herbs....See MoreEssential Oils
Comments (27)My personal dislike of artificially added scents to an indoor space aside, remember that medical advice comes from medical doctors and other qualified personnel. Not from the labels of products or the words of people who sell or advocate them. And that for many people who suffer from allergies, the trigger is different kinds of plant material. There's nothing guaranteeing a substance to be not noxious but rather only "wholesome and pleasant" simply because something is from plants. Real perfume has substantial flower and plant based ingredients. It's all well and good, but if someone wearing too much (which is common) gets on to an elevator with me or sits nearby in a restaurant, it's all I can do to continue breathing. Many public places in my area, especially medical offices, have signs declaring visitors to respect their wishes to remain "Scent free"....See MoreDoes anyone use Thieves Essential Oil product for hardwood floors?
Comments (22)It depends on what is ON the floor. If you have WAXED hardwood floors then MORE WAX is needed. Anything else and you need a something else. Most finishes from the last 40+ years are polyurethane finishes. These are NOT to receive ANYTHING other than 'cleaning'. If the floor is showing raw wood then it is time to do a full sand and refinish. Never, ever put down wax or polish or oil on a polyurethaned floor. EVER. At this point, we don't know what you have on your floors. You will need to load a photo or two. Can you load photos? They need to be in jpg format and it takes ++time for them to load. You need to leave the page alone until your photos have finished loading (can be 5-10 minutes)....See MoreTina Marie
