Who supplies these shower valve trims?

Hi all,

I'm remodeling my bathrooms and I want a very specific clean look so I showed these reference pictures to the company that does all the plumbing for me and told them I want exactly these minimal clean design shower valve trims, in the red frame (is this how they are called correctly?) but they have not come up with a solution yet and they say, these don't exist. Which I don't want to believe.

My favorite solution would be one shower valve trim, with which i can control heat and pressure. I don't prefer the combo solution where one controls water pressure and one controls heat. But if that's what it is, than I go with it. Most important is, that the back plate, is not so huge, I just want it minimal like max 3" in diameter.

Do yo have any leads who produces such shower valve trims?

Hard to tell from the picture which manufacturer makes them unless someone used this brand or similar to this design they will point you in the right direction.

After you find out, you can order the entire package if your plumber cannot get them and have your plumber install it.

Thanks for the input. I made some more investigations and through the pubisher of the photo, I got an answer on the manufacturer 5min ago!

Now do you have any idea, if Australian and US plumbing standards are the same? I have sent the manufacturer an email about this too. A soon as I hear back from them, I'll let everyone here know.

The only PEX connections that I'd trust in an enclosed stud bay are expansion connections. I use a tool to expand the ends of the tubing, slip the expanded PEX over the fitting, then the memory of the PEX causes it to contract, sealing around the fitting. But that's me. Sweating copper isn't difficult. It should't be a worry since you have a contractor doing the work. As to adding shutoff valves, if you want no-kidding valves that are independent from the valve, then you can certainly do that. I prefer full-port, 90-degree throw valves for water supply on/off valves. They look similar to this: As an alternative you can also look for a valve with "stops". Stops are shutoff valves that are integral to the valve itself. If you ever need to work on the valve or replace the cartridge, you remove the trim cover, use a screwdriver to close the stops (one hot, one cold), and that shuts water off to the valve. Yes, a lot of times you are paying for trend and style. If your current valve and trim kit are fine, you can simply refurbish/update the valve with a repair kit if they are available for your valve. If you want to replace the valve simply for something new, then sure, anything goes.

The setup took looking at a couple of times to get a sense of what was going on, so let me just clarify: The fixed shower head will be on the wall on the far left? and the handheld will be facing as you walk in? If I understand this correctly, then: We plan to use the hand-held shower to shower our daughter who is disabled. She will be seated when I shower her. We need to decide whether to install a corner bench in the back near the #3 studs or use a portable bench in the center of the shower closer to the # 1 stud. If we do the corner bench and place the slide bar on the #3 studs, I wonder if I will get soaked by the water coming toward me Although that is true what you say, I imagine that you would be standing inside the shower on the left side of the valve, if she were seated on the proposed seat, which should be fine for water on you- but wouldn't that mean that there will be water spraying out of the shower? If that is OK, then I would think that is the best option- no portable seat, nice fixed bench, and hand held above your daughter. But looking at the dotted line- does that give you enough room to get in and out of that shower? while assisting her? Will she be able to sit independently? In the corner, that doesn't give a lot of room, if you were to need a second hand? Will that ever be an issue? I can't judge the dimensions, but I would think a long bench along that far left wall would be better, but then the handheld would need to be over there? That would look a bit like the sample pic, I guess. Tell me what the setup is for the plumbing exactly and is it ok to move it....

First, let me end the FALLACY that is running unchallenged in this thread: i.e. tapered pipe threaded joints (IPS) will NOT, repeat NOT leak over time, even 100 YEARS, IFF they are properly taped or doped (NOT BOTH), and adequately torqued down, such that several turns of the tapered (deliberately non-matching pitch) threads deform against each other. I have removed such valves installed 40-50 years ago. The packing may be leaking around the valve stems, but the threaded joints are fine and tight. Any joint made IMPROPERLY will leak, including poorly soldered copper. As stated above, sweat the adapter on FIRST, THEN, after cool, tape/dope it and torque it down. But yes the Evil Orange/BLowe's/megalopoly sell only the threaded because they can stock ONE item that will work with copper, galvanized, CPVC, PEX, anything, all by adding a few dollars of adapters. Bean counters' delight, the customer comes second. Yet Another reason to support your independent plumbing supply houses, who can get you the sweat connect version, plus all kinds of goodies you'll NEVER see at the big box halls of wasted time and little help. And no, it is not that hard to clean out the solder cups, re-flux and re-sweat if you botch it the first time.

I have the Hansgrohe trim, and after a year and a half, it has been fine. I rarely clean with a product, but wipe it dry daily after any shower with a soft cloth. It has remained spotless and perfect. I do have the Citterio porter to hold my handheld. It is all brass and chrome finish. I had read reports of the plastic ones failing.

In the US, I don't see how you would get such a minimalist look; by code shower valves require anti-scald valves and these typically require a 4" opening in the wall and a larger (5"??) cover plate.

You probably better off finding something similar to that locally. When I was building my house in 2002, we imported all the vanities from Spain, they came as a complete package, vanity, tops, mirror, lights, sinks, and all the plumbing fixtures, my plumber said right from the get-go use faucets that you can get locally because if something is missing or need replacement down the road it will be a hassle getting them plus they use the metric system and so is AU... unless they import this brand of fixtures to the US and modify to our standards.

I end up using all the fixtures made by Grohe manufacturer and I would never use anything else, 19-yrs in my house and not a single issue.

Went to a showroom recently and notice that Graff has some valves where the trim plate dia is less than 3”.

Gian, the anti-scald valve requirement is the code but they can be installed anywhere, they don't have to be part of the diverter and have a large opening.

Talk to your plumber he would know better the local requirements and the code, so he will be more of help.
