Tinker_2006, I think the dissonance I'm experiencing is because of the highly patterned bedskirt. I think it's beautiful, but it seems like it calls out for an unpatterned comforter or duvet so that you get that soft, smooth lofted look contrasting with the busily patterned bedskirt. You could repeat the eyelet with trim on pillow shams. Also, I like a more decadent look that includes Euro pillows, but that's just personal preference. If I can, later I will try to find some pictures showing what I mean.

Hi Texas, It sounds like any of the 3 finishes you mentioned would look great against your neutral kitchen. I have a friend with a kitchen similar to what you describe, and the stainless farmhouse sink blends beautifully. It's very casual-looking, very understated. I have white cabs, white marble counters, and a white fireclay farmhouse sink. It looks great, but next time I'd go with a cast iron farmhouse sink with white enamel if I can find it, for the sake of durability (although I've had no problems in the past 6 weeks of using the sink). Would love to hear some opinions on copper. It sounds gorgeous, but it's a material I have no experience with as far as a design element or durability-wise. Good luck!

susielovestopaint - Gray Owl is one of my choices! CEFreeman - I am having led lighting in my kitchen. I find it amazing the way cabinet, countertop and paint samples change their "complexion" in the actual room, and at different times of day. I bought sample pots and painted them onto sample boards because long ago I learned the hard way that what looks good on the little swatch looks very different in a big space. I once thought I was painting my bedroom pale terra cotta only to find Miami Dolphins orange on the walls. But you are correct, grey is proving very elusive. I have also tried to complement the grey with Antique Lace - too yellow, Linen White - maybe, but meh, etc., etc. All choices so far look good with the Frosty White, but not in the room itself. Ditto countertop samples. It is daunting. (Plus, I am a wreck over assembling the cabinets this weekend. You are my hero CEFreeman. I have read and re-read your posts. Can't find anything on youtube about inset drawers, but that's for another thread. I was thinking of giving you a shout out about it.)

I find it hard to offer up or encourage mediocre or substandard. I understand there is a lot of information and circumstances that effect a design; but when that information and circumstances is not made known, it is next to impossible to give valid advice and assumptions have to be made. I assume people are here asking questions to improve what they have to the highest degree possible, and I point out areas I see that could be improved or I offer a conceptual solution to improve what they have knowing full well there may be extenuating circumstances that lead them to what they have. I see many times people are under the impression that they can not afford the services of an architect, where in reality it is that they can not afford the one architect they talked to or are relying on hearsay. There are architects out there for just about any budget. There is most of the time a big difference between architects and house designers and the like. That is something even the people at Houzz can't figure out. Perhaps the lack of plans offered up for review here on Houzz is a result of people realizing that the best way to have the home they need and want is to sit down with an architect and get to know each other. The architect can discover their needs and wants, walk the site with them, discuss at length the dreams and possibilities of what their home can be. The owner can ask questions and see their home develop before their eyes in the form of sketches and scribbles; a personal/professional interaction that creates home. Perhaps I am being overly optimistic.
