Can I Replace 3 Handle Shower Faucet Without Damaging Tile?
Comments (3)What brand is your shower/tub valve and faucet? It looks like Kohler. If it is Kohler, you can replace the handles with new Kohler handles. Once you decide on your lav faucet, you can use the tub spout and/or shower head from that collection - or find a similar design from another manufacturer. If your current tub spout is metal, be careful in selecting a new one because most mid ranged spouts are plastic. I like your faucets for a mid century bath - they are right in line. The knobs are still contemporary - spouts have changed. get back with your valve manufacturer so we can help you....See MoreWhat are your thoughts about farm sinks?
Comments (42)We have had a Shaw farm sink for 6 years and I have mixed feelings. Love how it looks, but I have a problem with water splashing out onto me a lot more than with our old "regular" sink. I think the issue is I am tall - so the sink feels really low for me, and the sink itself isn't that deep. When I use the water spray i tend to squirt it too high given where the dishes are sitting in it. I love the idea of the single bowl - and most time that works for us - however there are some times where the sink doesn't hold nearly as much as it would look like - so for some very large items i wash them in my laundry sink which is much deeper....See MoreWhat is the best way to change the color of my kitchen sink?
Comments (18)Kevin: You don't necessarily have to change your cutout to change that sink. Disconnect the plumbing, remove any mechanical clips, drive a stiff scraper between the sink flange and the stone bottom and drop the sink. Take the sink out the front of the cabinet. Install a couple Sink Straps from Regent Stone Products, then undermount a Kohler 3821-1-NA. Here's your job with the cutout change and a low divide Kohler:...See MoreHow to replace porcelain sink with farmhouse without removing Corian?
Comments (5)Gary: You'll need to steal material from another part of the kitchen such as a backsplash or smaller countertop to get proper color/particulate match. A matching cutting board may work, but there's a possibility of UV light exposure making the pieces mismatch. Don't attempt to hard seam dissimilar materials, particularly in a wet area please. You would support the seam with an adhered cleat underneath. I used some new Cameo White Corian to replace a sink and the color match was perfect despite the 30-year gap and dissimilar batches. Depends upon your color/particulate and brand. I don't know where you're getting a 42" farmhouse sink without going custom and I'm in the sink replacement business. Since you're not replacing your countertops, you're obviously not replacing your cabinets. If you're not replacing your cabinets, you have to use a short apron sink. Finding a stock 42" short apron is really going to be tough. If you go custom, expect to pay about 3k for the sink, but because the new sink has a faucet deck your problem is solved. The sink will be a 14 gauge short apron spectacular beauty: Here is your problem solved in engineered stone, but the process is identical: To get the best looking job, you're also going to need enough material to build the sink cutout edge down to the same thickness as the front edge: If you don't build the edge down, this is the look you'll get: None of this is DIY work, expect to pay 3K in labor please....See MoreAllie Rosenthal
