Thermador Double Wall Ovens and Rangetop
Comments (4)I have had the 272 ES for the last5 months and I 'm still not entirely sure...I had a Gaggenau previously and loved it, but this time I wanted a double oven and the Gagg was simply too much money [particularly here in Canada) plus the gaggenau reps was singularly uninterested in us so I went elsewhere. I love the looks and mostly am very happy..my irritations? 1. With the Gagg I could convection broil at lower temps than the Thermador which was better for cooking fish. 2. This oven takes a long time to heat up,and when it says it's ready it still has a way to go...not quite enough for me to bounce it but enoughfor me to have a thermometer in the oven all the time and not believe the beeps that tell you it's up to temperature. In the past I barely preheated but now it's a must. 3. This was only yesterday..I tried to use the probe to cook a turkey as I thought it would be less hassle than my usual method...and ended up with grossly undercooked turkey...so on my to do list is call thermador. 4. Don't wipe the finger marks off the control panel as you make the last "cleanup" of your kitchen before your guests arrive!...if you do you'll change all the settings and lose your times! Live and learn. It is so much easier having two ovens though that I'm still pleased overall but for what I paid I had expected better temperature control...See MoreWall ovens, combi steam, microwave: Time to commit
Comments (16)After about a year of planning and deliberation, here's the final line up! Bluestar 48" rangetop w 24" griddle Bluestar French door, new electric wall oven Wolf M Series combi-steam Wolf Warming drawer Kitchen-Aid 30" convection microwave 36" SubZero built-in french door 24" SZ beverage center 15" SZ Ice maker 24" Bosch Benchmark DW 18" Bosch 800 Series DW How I decided on the Wolf combi-steam: I went to see both the Wolf and Miele units in person. I narrowed it down to those two based on Wolf's looks and Miele's plumbing. I knew that the Miele and Gagg were both plumbed but I didn't give enough weight to the fact that Miele doesn't have a drain. When I saw the Miele in person, I realized that emptying and cleaning the tray was really what I thought I was going to avoid by getting the plumbed unit but in fact that was not the case. The Wolf doesn't have a broiler, but I've got one stacked above it in the BlueStar and am not bothered at the thought of moving from one oven to the other. I also have the Searzall + Blowtorch, so I won't be at a loss for browned, melted goodness. The one thing I still long for is Miele's M touch operating system. The menus were so clear and thoughtfully designed. The Masterchef feature looked like a dream, for both an experienced cook like myself and for those who don't like to cook at all. Alas, I can't have it all. I'm sure I'll find my way with the Wolf. The microwave was decided purely by looks. I had planned on buying a unit from one of the main manufacturers (Sharp or Panasonic) but the Kitchen-Aid was the best looking, by far, with the rest of the new pro-style appliances and their handles. I also really loved the button panel across the bottom, the fact that it still has a number pad (as opposed to a dial or the other newfangled styles), and that it has a pull door, as opposed to a push button (one of my inexplicable pet peeves.) There's also a popcorn addict in the house and we're very intrigued by their popcorn popping technology. Something about how it recognizes when it's done the same way we would, when the pops slow down to 1-2 seconds apart. I have to tell you, it was so nice to write all of that without a tinge of doubt. I know I did as much research as I could, asked all the questions and am going to get the kitchen of my dreams. I hope you do too!...See MoreWolf Steam Con Oven plus a single wall oven, has to be Wolf too?
Comments (20)I went to see the Miele CSO and oven last Friday, and I really like the CSO especially it being plumbed the the XL is big enough. The interface is great, perfect for anyone that's new to steam ovens. The regular oven is pretty much just fine. However, I still like the Wolf's look more, Miele is more modern clean look while Wolf has more rounded edges and the warmth feeling to it...I know that's so superficial LOL! One thing I am curious is, the sales guys at either Pacific Sales or Pirch all told me they would recommend Wolf, even though Miele is a superior product. I wonder if they get a lot more commission when they sell Wolf?? Also, the sales guy said if I get Miele, it's best to get the Miele installation because Miele will double the warranty makes it 2 years instead of 1. Did you get that too?...See MoreDouble ovens or single oven with Steam oven??
Comments (15)"I had heard that the Wolf ovens did have the issues with the blue enamel, but that they had corrected that issue. ??? maybe????" This is is from Wolf's own website. If you are under warranty, they pay. If not, you pay and the new liner is only guaranteed a year. Several posters here have gone through multiple ovens. http://www.subzero-wolf.com/assistance/answers/oven-porcelain-damage The first reports here were 10 years ago. Wolf's response when asked about it is they never heard of it or it was a tiny problem fixed years ago. This is the most recent report on this forum. https://www.gardenweb.com/discussions/5078432/which-36-df-range-thermadore-or-monogram-wolf-is-being-returned?n=10...See Morejdsb2
