Have her buy/order actual tile samples, that way she is ready when the cabinets and counters are installed. Don't buy the tile until that time.

I ordered a bunch of samples, after the installation of the quartz countertops. I was so overwhelmed with the different options. I decided to keep it simple and classic, went with a 3 x 6 bright white subway tile, off-set, 50 percent, with a Artic White Grout., absolutely no regrets. I will say this, even with samples, and laying the samples out. The final finished job of 3 x 6 Bright White Subway Tiles far exceeded my expectations, so laying out samples may not give a true representation of the finished product. Sometimes simple is better and not over thinking it, although easier said, then done.

Yes i think ordering multiple samples of the same tile to get a good idea is best.
