Can't decide between black leathered or giallo ornamental granite
Comments (3)I have giallo ornamental and I can't imagine it in a leather finish. To me the leather finish looks best with the solids. It is an interesting look, but not very popular. I am wondering too if dust, fingerprints crumbs show more on this type of finish. I can tell you that with my giallo, I have to skim the surface with my hand because it hides the crumbs well. I agree that black and white is a classic look, but you have to like it. Have you thought about your backsplash? That may guide you in one direction or another....See MorePlease Help!!! I can't decide...
Comments (12)Well... mine is Monsoon Wave soapstone fabricated and installed by Florida Joshua. He didn't stock it at his yard so I flew up to Jersey (incorporated it with a trip to see both my boys who live in NY), picked out my slabs, and had them shipped to Joshua. I live in So. Fla. so he had to take a couple of trips down here to measure, fabricate, and install. It went perfectly and even though it was a HUGE splurge for me; I would do it again in a heartbeat. It is beyond functional, beautiful, and takes a beating without issue. I can go without waxing for a couple of months and fall in love with the kinda washed black denim look of it. Then I'll get in the mood to shine it up and fall in love again with the vibrant sea glass colors that run through this stone. If you have the chance to use Joshua... it's worth every single penny and more....See MoreI love granite, but I can't find a granite I love
Comments (30)If this helps, (and this pic is when we were still working on the kitchen, but it's the only one I have on the computer right now), this is our kitchen. The original cabinets were a light oak (I disliked them a lot!)I painted the cabinets and was worried about the grain showing through. I sanded and primed, and re-sanded and put two coats on, and can't see wood grain. In the pic though, the cabinets facing you still needed another coat of paint! We went with Fiesta Gold granite--but it looks exactly like New Venetian Gold. The fabricators change names sometimes from what I understand. As I was trying to explain above--I personally like white with darker floors. But you mentioned that you are planning to replace the floors. For what it's worth, painting wasn't bad. :) And we've got two kids and a dog running around! Again--bear in mind that this isn't a completed kitchen. No backsplash, pendant lights, bar stools, etc...but it will give you an idea maybe. Here's the granite if it helps at all:...See MoreCan't Decide Between 2 Granites
Comments (12)Thanks for all the comments. This has been our home for 40 years and will be till they carry us out. I have waited decades to have a nice bathroom and I'm not afraid to put something a bit bold in it. The entire bathroom is neutral so I think it needs one shot of colour or character. So long as I can find nice towels over time to go with those colours. I think DH loves the Fusion the best and its what we first fell in love with. Then the granite people wouldn't let us use the slab we initially saw because it is just a small piece and they wanted us to take from an already cut slab. So we started looking elsewhere and fell in love with the Greenpeace also. In the end we fell in love with this part of the already cut Fusion slab. I just had to re\-adjust my thinking from what we first saw. The duller centre will be cut for the sink and the edges utilized for backsplash just to get a little more of it. It is still soft gentle swirls so I am not afraid of the colours. We did our kitchen in Titanium granite a couple years ago and we still are in love with it. The entire slab of Fusion is gorgeous but maybe a large area would be too much for a lot of people. If we were re-doing our TV room now I would love it around our fireplace but that is not going to happen in the near future....See Moremsjoan
