matching roller nap texture

Jess Barrett

So the painters that originally painted my basement drywall originally must have used a thick nap or something because it left behind a textured wall which I didn't mind, however shortly after finishing our basement we had a sewer backup and the bottom 2 feet of everything had to be cut out and redone.

2 things: 1) when my drywall guy primed he left roller ridges which he sanded mostly out but now I'm left with smooth spots in a textured wall. i tried painting with a 3/4 nap roller but i just can't get the same texture, am i doing something wrong? What's the trick to get a heavy texture on the wall but not too much paint on the wall?

2) how do I sand out these ridges now that they've been painted?

Thanks all
