Shower tile- matte of glossy? Keep it clean!

Designing a bath remodel will have an alcove tub/shower combo. I plan to have a tile surround but am not a fan of how they don't clean up well after a time, especially if caulk is used anyplace. My question is are the tile finishes- glossy vs matte going to be something to consider. I plan on a larger format (at least 24x24) tile with thin grout lines. My personal fav right now is a porcelain onyx look very glossy and a thin ribbon wood look in a textured matte finish. I would use the onyx in the center of the back wall and the ribbon wood look at the showers ends and framing the onyx.
