Need help choosing a paint color for exterior.
I wanted to update the color because it is ten years old and the original color chosen when I bought the house new, but I also tried to pressure wash and you can see in the photo what it did to the front.

Comments (0)I need help choosing BM colors. Last time we painted, we chose a sage green with burgandy shutters. I was hoping for a a pretty soft sage that doesn't appear mint. Last time our painter played with the color after the 1st coat so I don't have a name for SW color we ended up with. I was going to only have color on the doors this time. It was too much color. What would be good on shutters? I was thinking cream or navy or a deeper sage on same chip. Is it ok to not put shutters on 2nd floor garage addition even though those windows are in the front? Comments (9)Wow thanks for the input, guys! While I think the green works, it's just not my thing. I have played with gray browns, taupes, and think they look nice. I definitely want to stay with neutral earthy tones but I'm not feeling the green. I am also conflicted about the tudor-style, or board and batten, trim. Do we paint it the same color as the siding to reduce the busy look, and perhaps paint only the perimeter trim a different color? This was a question our painter asked because it's sort of in style right now. I think the beige garage door is what irks me the most. We did consider a new garage door but decided against the cost of it for now. 2 years agolast modified: 2 years agoI'd prob paint the stucco a soft creamy and do a dark trim. (did you have the pressure on too high? did it damage the stucco? if so, you'll have to get it patched before painting.
not too sure about those shutters. they look too small.
if you must use them, they and get more authentic looking ones for a spanish style look
Try Shoji White and Urbane Bronze (SW)
dig away the grass against the foundation and do some flower beds.see this flower bed? notice the brick and shutters are almost the same as yours. look at what the flower bed like this does for the look of the house.
just dig out the grass agains the house and thrown down some dark mulch and a few shrubs
Spruce up the landscaping and whatever paint color you choose will be a huge improvement. Paint alone isn't going to fix the curb appeal.get a colorful ceramic pot w/a nice plant and place it under the light
plants w/these colors would look nice w/the brick
bring in an address plaque something like either of these. or do some vertical numbers on the right side of the door
here are some other creamy whites and darker trim colors. grab some samples.
Some other combos of colors if you want to use the red w/the white/dark trim color.
Your landscaping (or lack of it) plays a huge role in the overall look. get some flowerbeds/plantsof some type.
for the side of the house, do something low maintenance like the pebbles and cement path, and the simple plants grown along the side of the house

2 years agolast modified: 2 years agoThe shutters must go and be replaced with authentic ones. One window mistake will make or break the look. Adding hinges, shutter dogs will be well worth it.

2 years agolast modified: 2 years agomy photoshop is horrible, but trying to show you the softer white stucco color w/some landscaping ideas. do the dark trim on the fascia, shutters, around the opening on the porch, and your trim
Try the two colors I mentioned above, and maybe get some samples of these others. they will all work w/the brick. I don't know if you're painting your door or have some other accent to paint (like a deck in the back or something) but any of these red tones would work w/the brick.
