Quite a large entry so I think an ID might be needed to get what you want.You for sure need someplace for coats and shoes so plan that first then move on to the actual decor. Maybe 2 matching armoire type pieces it that works with the rest of the home decor. I never like coats and boots out in the open. Right now I see a big need for lighting so make sure that is addressed too I don’t like the fact you are placing stuff in front of the windows You need spot for a bench or settee or chairs for removing and putting on shoes. Is this the main family entry ? IMO strorage is a must so how to handle that will be a bit of a challenge with all those lovely windows

We are working with the architect to create a mudroom in the back entry of the house but completely agree about items being out in the open (i hate it!)

This is a large undertaking and you want to be looking a design for the entire home, including a whole home color palette.

Patricia suggested an interior designer, which is different role than your architect will play.

Are you wanting to hire someone to help with the interior design or are you wanting to tackle this on your own with the help of the online community?

All you need for the entry is new lighting, a large rug, and either a bench or console table for under the large window. I would choose the wall colors in your main rooms first, and then use a deeper shade or wallpaper that brings everything together for this room. You can add a piece of molding from the stair rail to the ceiling so you can separate the new color or paper from the wall going up the stairs. You want the entry to be interesting but coordinate with the rooms to come.

Neo traditional (or new traditional) has such a broad design range. Will you be updating stairs and painting trim? An armoire and bench would be a good start, and light coloured walls.

Hi, Jillian. I really like the charcoal, textural wallpaper in your vision board, as well as the lighter color with thin charcoal stripe runner. I think those are beautiful choices, along with the lighting fixture you found, but I would definitely paint the woodwork a white, cream or very light tannish/ beige color. Then again, it depends on your color preferences and what you have going on in your other decor. Is there a good stopping off point for the trim painting ? What are the predominant colors in your furnishings - any blue or green ? Those could be beautiful for trim ,as well. —- Would you mind sharing the vendor/ identifying info. about the light fixture in your mood board ? —- Bottom line, I think a foyer is an introduction to your home and your style . It shouldn’t really be decided/ decorated in isolation. I think you will get better input, Jillian, if you are able to describe how this foyer will relate to the rest of your rooms, furnishings and preferences.

Trim I am leaning towards Decorators white for the whole house. I still need to test it to confirm. As of now, we sold most of our furniture from our prior start and largely have a blank canvas.

If you're just moving in, do consider hiring a color consultant for your wall paint. You have a lot of wood trim, the lovely stained glass windows, etc. Decorator White might be too high contrast with your special features. Here's are two articles about paint colors that complement wood trim:
