Comments (5)Chelsea B, for what it's worth, we are looking to remove our window world windows. The previous owners had them put in and the install is atrocious! Not a single window square and plumb, gaps to the outside letting air infiltrate, water infiltration, and I believe the windows are letting in bugs. Maybe they are wonderful if installed correctly, but I think I'll just upgrade to a better made window with a better installer while I'm at it....See MoreMarvin Modern vs Essential windows + doors reviews/pricing?
Comments (11)I sell that window with no extension jambs for about the same amount of money. It's not overpriced. (Essential). I haven't worked with the Modern lineup yet so I cannot comment from experience. Essential windows are better than vinyl. The Fiberglass is stronger, doesn't expand/contract like vinyl, and will last longer than vinyl. Also Marvin has one of, if not the lowest seal failure rates amongst all windows. I sell more Marvin products than any other and I have almost zero seal failures. Many of the vinyl window I've sold have had seal failure issues. The $800 quote is far less than my cost on a unit that size. Unlikely mseamm's unit is as big, or the same brand/series/options. Might be that their unit wasn't tempered....See MoreMarvin Elevate vs. Andersen 100 Series
Comments (12)@lucieanna28, thank you so much. I have not looked at the Sierra Pacific, I’m looking at Anderson 100 in particular. Casement windows. Was thinking grids outside glass to hopefully give more of a wood window look. I don’t think I’ll open the windows much, so more of a visual decision for me rather than functioning the window. I need to look at Marvin as a comparison. I really appreciate your input. WoW, I agree!!! I was trying to search back on old posts to get feedback from people rather than starting a new post, and it is very nice of people to come and be honest about their choices! Helpful for me!...See MoreInstaller vs Window Dilemma (Andersen 100 vs Marvin Essential)
Comments (13)I don't know if you have any "specialty" type windows, and if you do, Marvin can't do them in the infinity or essential or if they can, they are not operational windows and will be stationary. Only when you go up to the Ultimate window, the fiberglass and wood one, can they do arches. Then again, those are double hung, stationary or casement, not single hung. We have been working with Marvin since February, from a retailer that is Marvin only, and while it seemed easy at first, in getting the quote to them measuring and final quote, that is when it all has fallen down. Our first salesman just stopped responding after it was discovered he put non functioning infinity windows in a bedroom (the two windows have an eyebrow shape). Now we are working with the owner and it still isn't right. I am about to give up on Marvin and call Anderson....See Moreericgriffin
