evergreen perenial for gravel driveway edge
Comments (24)Those delosperma look great. I hope mine come up strong this spring, they seem to be a favorite of the rabbits and struggling as a result. There are some great ideas in this post, but I can't get past the image in my head of a nice perennial edging that's got a ton of weeds and grass sprouts growing in all over the place. Must be the scars from a childhood spent weeding bluegrass out of creeping phlox.... and that was just a 3 foot patch, not 700 feet of driveway edging. Sure you don't want to just line the drive with a couple dozen crapemyrtles or some other shrub that can be easily mown around?...See MoreHow to add architectural interest to a completely boring Phoenix home?
Comments (20)I'm afraid that cut-out wall would forever bother me. Could the holes be filled in and the wall continued toward the other wall on the right, so that there is still a pathway on the left? If not load-bearing, why not remove it, and I think someone mentioned putting a wooden beam in the opening, which would certainly add architectural interest....See MoreDoors!! How to make not boring!
Comments (13)I wouldn't replace just a few doors with stained maple or birch. keep them all white, and slab. A mix will look incomplete, to me. and, if your doors are painted white, I'm guessing the casings and bade are white, too. Mcm homes with stained wood slab doors usually had stained wood casing and base, as well. Go with the great hardware abd matching slab doors. The exception would be the front door. it should have color, and be something to remember. Maybe add some Neutra style house numbers, and a great light fixture....See MoreHow to make this plain house look interesting?
Comments (65)Michael says: The handrail is just bolted on. It was a quick patch job the previous owners did to move the place quicker. It's literally 3 little bolts. Nope. Betcha they added the handrail because it was required by code and they couldn't sell the house at all without it. So you can remove those three little bolts, but don't let your mortgage or insurance company catch wind of it. As for the windows on the door being close to the handle, that's what double cylinder deadlocks are for....See MoreHU-682441911
