OH! THANK YOU! I am so loving ALL your ideas and suggestions, and believe me, I am seriously considering each and every one of them! OK... so I cut out some sheets of paper the sizes of the pictures we have been considering. The 4 pieces of paper on the long wall represent the four 13.5" Sturbridge ("4 Seasons") prints. I think they fill the wall nicely! The 2 pieces of paper above the toilet represent the two 8" x 10" Warren Kible prints (the cat and the pig). (Boo seems to approve!!!) THEN, I'll change out the toilet seat (probably a plain white one... or maybe black???), and maybe replace the magazine holder with something like this... ... and call it *DONE*!!! So, what do you guys think?! And remember, you can be BRUTALLY honest!!! Really! ;o)

I would not put anything opposite the collage you have now because your hallway is too narrow. Some people like to move as far away as possible from such displays to take the pictures in as a group. That wouldn't be possible in your space if you had stuff on the opposite wall--- they might back up to see one wall and knock things off the other one. In general, if you have a hallway width less than four feet wide you don't want to line both walls with anything. If you have a long hallway or one punctuated by doors, you can put a grouping on one side, then hang things on the other side of the hall, not opposite but further down, iykwim. I would use a nice painting or print at the end of the hall, unless there is something you want to reflect from the other end.

I love art on stair ways and landings, it creates curiosity and a sense of mystery about what is unseen in the rest of the home. Original art is compelling and to my thinking well worth the investment, so I think an oil painting would be great in that spot. With art the best way is to buy what "speaks" to you so if you are uncertain and close to a city with an art museum they often have lend/lease programs where for a relatively small fee you can select an original piece to hang for a month or so. These are not pieces from their collection, but from (usually) local artists. If you like the piece the option to buy is available. It gives you a chance to see what you enjoy. From there you can look to similar prints, if that's what the budget allows, or seek out artists at city art walks, open studio days, or even local art schools. Some savvy interior decorators I know even find great stuff at thrift stores. If you decide to go with a mirror and chest, then adding a beautiful lamp and a large vase with fresh flowers, to reflect in the glass, would be lovely as well.

I struggle with gallery walls. I’ve tried putting them in a few different areas and I can never get it to look right so I go with one or two larger pieces. It seems like that’ll be best for this area too. I really like the art here but I think I’m going to end up hanging it in my bedroom instead. So I’ll have to find another piece. Do you think this size is good or should be bigger/smaller?
