Please help me pull this bath redo together? (Lots of pics)
Comments (23)Lyfia, I thought about your great idea and stood there and sized up the situation. I think that is beyond my meager capabilities and the chair rail would come right in the middle of it. I wish I'd thought of it before I put up the wainscoting, and maybe then I'd have had a fighting chance at it, but not now. Lukkirish, I will, thanks. Here is what keeps haunting me about this job. I have a leftover (from previous home) partial roll of wallpaper here that I adore, that looks fab with the Mucha. It's an arts and crafts pattern. I just keep coming back to wanting to use this paper. [](http://tinypic.com?ref=2woja78) The problem is, I don't have enough of it for the job, even with not going over the bathtub area. I have looked and looked and can't find anything out there like it. So the question is, could I put up narrow margin molding frames on the upper walls and put this paper inside them, then paint the paper's background color on the rest of the wall? Or the lighter beige\-peach featured in the first picture here? Or with the wainscoting would that look too choppy? Here is an example of a framed wallpaper panel: [](http://tinypic.com?ref=vkxae) What if I did it ONLY behind the Mucha and nowhere else in the room? Comments (17)My kitchen walls--what there are of them--are a dark burnt orange. All kinds of colors can work, but it depends on things like what the cabinets are like. Mine are blond bamboo. Coral will be hard to match to a lot of wood tones, though it can be done. You can also take the same coral you used for the den and mix it 1:1 or 2:1 or 2:3 with base white. That way you get a lighter tint, but still the same color (the other ones on the card are related but generally not the same). I can't find the picture right now, but there was a blog entry with an Italian kitchen with apricot walls and pale wood cabinets that looked great, in terms of color. I bet coral would look just as good. It would also look good with white or cream cabinets. Pale yellow could work but might be cloying. Or you could go full on Florida retro and do coral walls with aqua cabinets, or vice versa--though you'd probably need some pink plastic flamingos, and other retro kitsch to pull it off. What color are the cabinets?...See MoreNeed help to pull off "Lodge" look with Shiloh Polar White Cabinets?
Comments (67)Oh shoot - I am so sorry! We finally had some decent weather so I have been outside as much as possible and yesterday was so busy at work! Sometimes that's just what it takes - enough photos for your to confirm your heart and minds eye or give warning that maybe it's not what you want in the scheme of things after all. It is going to look sharp! We have similar schemes going on. ;) Our master is the maple sable with black glaze-you have selected a nice door choice it will pick up the glaze more. I nod to the polar white - yes I do. It looked so stark in the showroom that I didn't even bring it home (slap the forehead how dumb was that-I totally knew all about the lighting differences in spaces and how they change things, so dumb?)! Ha! It's all good, I don't dislike the soft cabinets really - just the trim. ;) I went with silas on the island because I didn't want to clash or matchy match the floor we had already selected (medium hickory) so in essence did the same as you but opposite. For posterity: Island - Hickory Silas stain with black glaze. See above comment - in the show room polar looked really white and I knew we'd likely have leathered black granite on top of them - I was worried it would look like a black/white 'period' kitchen although that's fine the house isn't period and it wasn't what I was going for. Here are my soft white with the granite:...See MoreNo idea how to pull this off
