Help with kitchen cabinet dilemma

last modified: 4 years ago

Hi all, I need serious help with painting my kitchen cabinets. After spending almost $200 on paint samples and almost $500 on a color consultant, I still have not found a solution! The problem-my outdated kitchen (see pic). The only thing I can do right now is paint, no renovation in sight.

I started with painting the ugly dark green counter/back splash tile (with dark brown trim) using Rustoleum bath and tile refinishing paint in white. It turned out well (after 6 coats) and it has been holding up. I cannot find any other counter paint that would work and hold up (I have done a DEEP dive into this after the color consultant suggested I change the countertop color) and realize that the kitchen counter/backsplash has to stay that white.

The problem now is finding a kitchen cabinet and wall color that does not darken the kitchen too much and goes with the countertop color (looks mostly like SW high reflective white color LRV 93) as well as the beige (sigh) stove (close to SW creamy LRV 81), darker stove hood (close to SW aged white LRV 74) and linoleum (close to SW aged white)

Details about the kitchen-gets northern light only, and there is only one overhead light that emits 4000K light. The picture you see is my attempt-painting the upper cabinets SW high reflective white and lower cabinets SW agreeable gray (LRV 60). The walls have not yet been repainted. These colors just seems to clash with everything, and the agreeable gray looks purple. I just don't know what to do! I don't want to use paint that will darken the kitchen, but nothing seems to go with the white countertop as well the stove/stove hood/floor. Please help, and thank you in advance.
