Windows Design Dilemma

Can I do a mix of black and white INTERIOR windows?

We are building a house and have decided to go with black windows. We were going to do all of the windows with black interior as well, but the cost has skyrocketed and we are hoping to trim expenses if possible.

My thought is to do the entire downstairs with black/black, and one upper window that will be seen from the main floor, but the other windows upstairs (bedrooms/bathrooms) would be black only on the exterior, and the interior would be white.

Have you seen this before? Does it seem disjointed to do it this way? Would love some expert advice! Thanks!

So the key is for things within the same view to be similar. for instance you wont have a large green island in your kitchen if theres no green anywhere else in the area. since the upstairs is probably bedrooms and maybe a bonus room and/or loft, you won't see it so it won't be a big difference.

BUT, if you are very detail oriented, you are going to notice it. The other solution could be to do all the windows with black outside/white inside window. Then, use a back trim around the window to give a similar feel. The only time this will not work are for the windows that look like they have smaller panes (usuallly its just material between the glass to make it appear that way).

I’m wondering the same thing for our new build. We Are leaning towards black interior just in the main open living space downstairs. What did you decide?

I'm down to black on black Anderson100 or Marvin Integrity all Ultrex with black exterior and white interior, painted black. But I want to see a painted Ultrex product. It's hard for me to believe I won't be able to take a fingernail across it and scrape it off?. I'm probably borrowing trouble even considering this. I'm not sure if I was quoted incorrectly, but I my Marvin Integrity quote is actually less than the A100 quote (from different seller), which is why I'm considering the paint option. Why are windows so difficult? (And so many more decisions to make)

We actually are doing this exact combination on our home right now. Our siding is dark grey and so we went with white windows because they popped next to the dark siding. Inside I fell in love with all the interior black window pictures and opted to black inside. We got our windows from Andersen and they were able to do that combo for us.

I currently don't have the majority of my own furniture from home moved in yet- my college and apartment are four hours away from my home so I've been moving things piece by piece. This quarantine situation hasn't been much help either since I'm working more than before both as an essential employee and an online tutor. I've been able to manage with the lack of furniture because I've learned to pack fairly light after living in a dorm room for nearly 4 years. Plus, I plan on using some of my white furniture in my future classroom (I'm an education major), so a decent amount of what I have with me currently won't stay in the apartment. That's why I haven't posted any photos yet! I can post photos of individual pieces (that I have here and that I'll bring from home) if that would be helpful!

Lol i thought if that too except i paid alot of money to have it made the same as what they ripped off . it was all wood, did it all in white , sofit and gutters are new also, before i even thought of black windows. once i thought of that i ofcourse wished i would have done gray but what is done is staying .

Hi! We ultimately decided to go with all black windows. Our builder encouraged us to be consistent, mostly for resale down the road. He said buyers might think it's weird to have different windows. I would say I've seen it done in some pictures and it can be beautiful IF it's done for design/aesthetic purposes. If you are intentional about doing it as part of your design and it's a highlight of your decor, it could be amazing! But my intention was just to save money, lol, so we decided to just go for it and make it up in other areas. Good luck!
