The difference between indoor and outdoor lights is usually a matter of watertightness of the circuits... not a worry indoors, but of high concern outdoors. That just means that as said, outdoor fixtures can come inside, but inside fixtures shouldn't be used outside.

That particular bench is 30inches deep so I am guessing that it will be a bit more comfortable than most. If I decide to go that route then I will definitely go to the store and sit on it first. I am debating going with a bench for my living room in a ranch house. It is one of the options I am looking at for my living room which is very narrow (and which I have moaned about on the forum quite a few times). We have a couch, and I have been looking at love-seats, but most of them are just too wide. I am also looking at settees as an option, but can't seem to find a style that I think will look okay in the space. We currently have a tan colored leather couch that sits against a bay window which has woven blinds as the window covering. Since the space is small, I figured a bench would give additional seating that you can spread out on a bit, but not make the space look too cluttered.

I'm sure this is done as I've seen many of those huge hanging lanterns that decorators are now using with the Belgian style and they must originally have been outdoor fixtures. As long as the wiring is to code I can't see a problem. Keep in mind the function of the light as sconces will be ambient light, not task. I have a dozen wired sconces in this house and I love the light they provide. Downside is that really tall furniture doesn't work with them and they limit wall decor.

where in CA zone 10 .... they can only take so much cold ... so we have to define the odds of how cold .. if that question is answered ... then there is no reason they cant go outside ... but after 5 years inside ... they can ONLY go outside in full shade ... they would need to be hardened off to real sun ... and little pots with huge plants ... are also problematic.. in that the pot itself can dry out too fast in sunshine.. so to be on the safe side.. lets just call it full shade... which itself.. is usually many times brighter than indoors ... plus.. dont forget.. how you watered.. indoors... is irellevant.. to how it will need to be watered.. outdoors... you will have to redefine your protocol ... and it might be best .. if you figure that out.. before you hire someone who might not know ... there is a houseplant forum as well as a container garden forum ... and you never know.. where you will find the peep with the most spot on info .. i am not up on the names.. but i would call one or both.. a corn plant .. compare at link ... though i am sure.. the wizards will firm that up for you ... ken BTW: your other problem outdoors.. will be how to make sure.. that every little breeze.. doesnt knock it over .... since they are both.. sail boat sails in small pots that dont weigh much ... ps: the tall one.. can probably be hacked off.. like the smaller.. should you wish to reign in its height.. someday down the line ...
