Mine is about that size. I only have clothes hanging on one side but I have shelves on the opposite side so I think it would work with clothes hanging on both sides. It’s hard to get the entire closet in pictures.

We have a smaller closet 4.5ft deep x 6ft wide. So smaller than yours but close enough for this purpose. There is hanging space on all sides. Small footprint in the middle (smaller than yours). The best thing we did was to change the door swing, so it now swings out into the room. With proper closet organizers, it works for both of us.

The closet is too narrow to hang clothing on both sides. Hanging clothes take up 24 inches depth. Therefore if you hung clothing on both sides you would have a 1 foot walkway. You will also not get the full length of hanging space on that back wall.

@simplechoices would you happen to have a photo? If there is an opportunity for me to find an extra 10 inches, I'd like to see if it's worth it. No worries if you don't.

I’d much rather have hanging on one side and shelves the size of a shoebox on the other. (In almost any closet, actually, I’d prefer that.) It will feel much better, look tidier, and workmore efficiently, as you won’t have to remember which side something is hung on, or swivel around to see if the tops that go with those pants are there.

Really hard to get the small space into one. Remeasured the closet is less that 4.5ft deep x 6.5ft wide. Ceilings are 8 ft. But I managed to maximize for the 2 of us and it works great. Would I love it to be bigger? Sure, But your closet is deeper and wider, so you already have an advantage. Click on images to see full view.

5'2" is too narrow for hanging clothes on both sides. With a minimum depth of 24" for hanging clothes, you'd only have a 14" pathway down the middle. You need a minimum of 30" for a pathway, with 36" being just right. For double rods, it needs to be 6.5' minimum width for a 30" walkway or 7' for 36" walkway.

If you keep the current layout, shift the door over or it will brush up against what's hanging near the entrance.

My closet is about 5'8" wide, and it's still a tight squeeze to walk in with clothing hanging on both sides -- my recommendation would be you definitely don't try it with a smaller width. I use only a part of the clothes hanging on one side, and use hanging shelves for the rest of it.
