countertop smell
Comments (5)When our quartz counters were installed, there was a strong smell from the adhesive that was used (according to the installer) but the smell went away in about a day. Maybe when it finally dried? Don't worry about it....See MoreQuartz countertop smells sour
Comments (15)Do you launder your dish cloths with bleach? We have "sour dish cloth" issues unless we bleach them when we wash them. If not, do so and then try: * Cleaning the counters with a mixture of 10% rubbing alcohol to 90% water. Spray it on the counters and wipe them down with paper towels. * If the above doesn't work, rinse them off well and then try using a bleach/water mixture (wear rubber gloves and be careful!) Rinse well with paper towels. I don't what ratio to use, but it should be weak mixture. See if the bottle says anything about it. Also, do a search on this Forum for the issue. Here are some that I came up with: http://ths.gardenweb.com/discussions/3275085/sour-smell-in-granite? http://ths.gardenweb.com/discussions/2673334/helpmy-kitchen-granite-smells-horrible? http://ths.gardenweb.com/discussions/2680238/help-my-granite-smells-funny? http://ths.gardenweb.com/discussions/4220684/smelly-kitchen-granite-counter-top?...See MoreCountertop Convection's - Quartz vs Metal Rod
Comments (2)Thanks, I did go ahead and purchase that model mainly because I couldn't find anything current that's well-rated, suits our counter needs, and still uses the metal rods. Unfortunately, all the reviews and responses I have read say that if you spill grease on the quartz glass they will likely break and that replacement for them is difficult. Trying it anyway and hoping for the best since I don't see any other alternatives....See MoreDoes anyone know how to fix a burnt Mark on a quartz countertop
Comments (1)Were you in my area, I'd figure out how much a replacement piece would cost and charge you half with a $1,000.00 minimum. If I didn't get the mark removed and the finish matched to your satisfaction, no charge. Everybody wins. The good news is it looks like a resin burn only. It doesn't appear any of the quartz crystals have "popped" (turned white). Those can be drilled and filled, but make the repair trickier. Getting the burn out is the easy part. Getting the finish to match after the burn is gone is tough. Not at all a DIY or handyman project. This ain't granite or solid surface. Expect anyone who touches it to get you to acknowledge in writing that the top is ruined and that they can only make it better. You may want to settle for a less-than-perfect repair, especially if color/particulate match material is not available. You may have a discontinued estone; that may mean replacing all the tops to get perfection....See MoreTracy
