Shutters- Need Help With Decisions
Comments (16)Thank you for your replies. It's very interesting to read your experiences with shutters, particularly in areas where they are popular and truly functional given the intense sun. Here are my rec room windows: So, the bottom sills are about at ground level. We have camellias in front of the left and middle window, so there's a good deal of privacy (plus the fact that we're sunk down in that room). Opposite the window wall is our tv. The pleated shades allow glare on the screen, which is about a 5/10 as far as being bothersome. Newer flat screens handle glare so much better these days. One issue that's become a concern is getting inside mount shutters which would block the tilt-in function of these relatively new windows you see. Outside mounting- I don't know how that works when the trim is uneven (in a decorative way). Also, we have the issue of the far right window butting up against the wall, which is just a really bad design flaw. I really like the option of getting great light and views with louvers open, and sun-blocking action with louvers closed. But, I'm having my doubts that this can work. Thanks again!...See MoreNeed decision today, PLEEAAASSSEE help w my powder room decision
Comments (13)Good point Lavender. Now that you point that out, as a guest, I'd feel more encouraged to help myself to the closet if it wasn't full of personal belongings. To you, which one is the bigger bathroom ?? I think they are all aprox the same size and just configured differently. I remember when you were working on your big working pantry years ago. I'd love to see what your house wound up looking like. I assume it's been posted, if so, can you share your link? Red, you just gave me an in between idea. I could take up less room and have a closet with less depth that has pegs in it and space for some other items guest may want (a wrap to sit outside, or some slippers if their shoes happen to be muddy ---hey, I can hope for no drought, right?) Awww, thanks for the compliment on my plans. Scottie, thanks! I will definitely post the after pictures. They are breaking ground tomorrow morning so it will be a while. Soon we will be tackling my kitchen storage, so stay tuned for more postings :) If we do a bench, I think I like your idea of the trunk so we could store some more things So far we have one vote for the second to the last photo ......See MoreHelp! Comments (3)It doesn’t look like you need a rug there, but if you are just looking to add some color, an oriental style area rug would look nice, IMO. Sheepskin I think would be too small and not really relate to anything else in the room....See MoreBacksplash help decision help needed for my kitchen.
Comments (22)I think doing a mix of different white tiles, or a mix of gloss and matte tiles might be easier to harmonize with the other two whites than having an expanse of a single white in the backsplash. These ideas are from Heath Ceramics. A mix of Heath's canvas white and vanilla bean. I don't know if I like this pattern for you, but I like the color mix. This is a dual-glazed tile; part of the tile is glossy and part is matte (I don't know if anyone but Heath does this, but you could mix gloss and matte tiles from someone else for a similar effect)...See MoreRelated Professionals
