Maggie, Spice and Perle d'Or
Comments (11)Pat, Perle d'Or is a fantastic rose here. The bud, the bloom, the blown bloom. I love her. It's my understanding she is good in a pot. Just a lovely rose. I have Maggie on order and expect to receive her in 2 weeks. Spice is very floriferous but I can't detect a fragrance...I agree with Ingrid regarding her growth habit. I can't say enough about Felicia! She is a fantastic rose and so fragrant! Check her out on HMF. She's been clean and a non stop bloom machine. Susan...See MoreRoses like Perle d'Ore
Comments (22)Ingrid, Lady Ann Kidwell, as a full-size shrub, can take your breath away. The blooms nod and dangle, swaying with the breezes and, though not "classic", have a pleasing form. She is relentlessly cheerful in the worst of heat waves and is among the most frequent bloomers in my entire collection. She also, in certain weathers, has a color of purple that is as good and true as any in the rose world. The foliage is clean. I had to have her after seeing the wonderful specimens at the SJHRG, which look great every single time I go there (no small feat for a rose). I love her, but I do have her over in the "bold color" section, where she holds her own!...See MorePerle d'Or Rose
Comments (16)I also have La Marne. It is very easy to grow. I give it no care other than clipping off the faded blooms. It is the first rose to bloom in my garden, and also the last. If you want lush, cabbagey roses try Belinda's Dream. I have several of these. It's a medium-sized shrub and has light pink roses that are packed with petals. It is one of the best roses for this area. It is constantly in bloom for me, sometimes in large flushes, sometimes not, but always has a couple of blooms. Northside Gardens has it. I don't know how you feel about chemicals, but you could make any rose "disease resistant" by using a systemic product. I use Bayer all-in-one granules that fertilize, protect against disease, and protect against bugs. You just sprinkle them on top of the soil every three months. Easy!...See MorePaul Bocuse and Perle d'Or Question
Comments (10)I wack my Perle back each spring. If not, it would reach over 6 feet tall and 5 feet wide. Mine is growing in a partially shady area in Portland, OR. I find that PdO performs fine in full sun or partial shade. The blooms bleach faster in the sun, but you do get more blooms, but the blooms don't last quite as long. In the end, it's either 6 or a half a dozen, as the saying goes. PdO is a great rose! It's in my front garden because it blooms all season. As Jeri mentioned, Perle is not a pot pet. A golden retriever, not a chihuahua. :-) I haven't grown Paul Bocuse, so I'm afraid I can't provide any feedback on that one. Carol...See MoreK S 7b Little Rock (formerly of Seattle)
