Our condo on Kauai is in Poipu and very close to the ocean. The salt air is really invasive and gets into everything and corrodes all types of materials, fixtures and mechanisms. Rust and materials deterioration run rampant out here in the Pacific. Consequently, we need to replace the original sliding doors (to the lanai) and windows which incorporate louvres (or jalousies as they're called here). The decision has come down to using Fleetwood or Milgard products. With both companies, the lifetime guarantees do NOT apply throughout Hawaii and the products are only covered for failure of materials and/or workmanship up to one year. Therefore, it is extremely important to buy the best, most durable quality we can afford (within reason). If anyone can offer opinions based on personal experience and ownership, we would be very grateful. Aloha!

I think the little room is lovely as is; others are right about possibly "prettying" up the laundry room if you choose. It's really not bad at all because when one is doing the laundry, you don't even see the toilet as it's tucked away in the corner and none of it sticks out. For me, I wouldn't mind glancing at a w'd while using the restroom, but I don't want to see a toilet while doing the wash. Whoever designed that was wise. Good luck with your renos in the other parts of the cabin!

I lived in LA and had several fires in the area in the 10 years we lived there. The most amazing videos were of the houses that just started smoldering out the roof eaves. Embers got blown into the houses through attic vents and started the fire in the attic, which quickly spread to the rest of the house. The type of windows and doors made no difference. Sorry you've had to deal with this. Hopefully you won't have to deal with mudslides too. In my area we had more damage from the mudslides after the hills above the town lost all their vegetation to the fires. I would find a different brand of sliding doors and get it in white, to match the windows. The difference between window and doors of a different brand in the same color, will be less that having them in the same brand, but a different color.

@dan dan Thank you! I found that out today before reading your post. I spoke to a window and doors expert (has a showroom that sells many popular brands such as Euro-Wall, Western, Marvin, Andersen, etc) and he said he had Fleetwood for decades and dropped them last year due to excessively horrible customer service and quality control issues. To make long stories short: Fleetwood isn't standing behind their products when things go wrong. Which is sad to me, because I find Fleetwood aluminum doors to be beautiful and exactly what I need. Have you had any issues with Fleetwood quality or customer service? The salesman he would go with Western instead, however, Western has horrible Google reviews as well as here on Houzz! Gah, so many issues, you just never know. Vitrocsa is very nice. I was looking at Styline today as well. Gorgeous! I will be sending my plans to them for quotes and also asking about installation options. The reason I'm not engaging a new architect is because the architect is already finished and off to permitting. I've also found that quite often, many "professionals" either don't know what they're talking about and/or they only know so much. The best people out there can also make tons of mistakes and simply "not know" of something. So being the researcher I am, I like getting consensus from many like-minded people here on Houzz. Let me know what you think about the Fleetwood issue! :)
