Need advice/ideas for my master bath
Comments (2)If it was my space? The tub dominates the room with it's massive footprint and wrap-around step. First questions? Do you use the tub? Do you love the tub? If you use and love that tub, you could keep it, but I'd look at modifying the step and eliminating the part of the step that's in front of the chest of drawers. If you're not crazy about the tub, I'd replace it with a stand-alone. You'll open up the floor space and crate a lighter and more airy vibe. Your vanity in the second photo looks like it has raised panel doors, I'll slot that in as being somewhat traditional in style. My personal opinion, but I'd follow that cue and go with what I perceive to be the more traditional choice of two framed mirrors instead of the single wall mirror. On that same vein, I'd ditch the yellow brass and opt for chrome. Chrome hardware, chrome lighting, chrome plumbing fixtures. Chrome (my opinion) is stylistically flexible, widely available, and whereas one manufacturer's "brushed something" might be different from another manufacturer's "brushed something", for the most part you can shop and mix chrome from most any source and it'll all blend. Plus it's generally less expensive. I've seen quite a few fine folk lose a bit of their intended remodeling vibe when they chose a non-chrome finish, and once installed, the finish didn't meld as well as it did in their mind during the design phase. Chrome? You really never lose with chrome. When in doubt? Chrome. But if you want to go in another direction, certainly feel free to do so. Just another opinion. Good luck with your decisions....See MoreNeed help updating 1960s blue tile in master bath.
Comments (27)We are replacing the tile due to cracking and other issues. Updating both our bathrooms for resale in foreseeable future (empty nesters). Our hallway bath will be black and white basket weave on the floor and white subway in tub area. Very excited about this as our first house in 1988 had the original black and white and we have always loved that look. We had no idea it was "in" until we went tile shopping and of course Pinterest ha . We found these two hex patterns. The one on the left is standard hex. The one on the right is marble ( I assume it's real ??) The second one is clearly a nicer and thicker tile, but what about the marble? Is this the best of both worlds or still not right to go with the blue vintage tile? I am not crazy about the size of the tiles. Would go with penny tile as suggested by CP, but no go for hubby....See More1940’s “blush” master bath needs updating
Comments (18)I LOVE the wallpaper. It's perfect and it picks up the vibe of the 40's while modernizing it. I agree I'd find a rug that is a bit more simple and picks up the colors in the wallpaper better. The sink faucet if fine as is. Honestly as long as you have the washer/dryer in there, that is still what one sees first....See MoreUpdate (need paint color!) Cosmetic master bath fix up for resale
Comments (23)Remove the shelving system and take pix so we can make further suggestions. My pet peeve is a lack of towel bars. I don't like to see towels hung on the shower door handle. Maybe a nice pair of towel bars in place of the shelving. If there's an electrical outlet behind the shelves, then consider adding a towel warming unit; that would sell a lot of people on the bathroom. Put robe hooks on the back of the bathroom door. Do the shades match others throughout the house? You might upgrade those to something a little less "off the shelf" looking. Move your toilet brush holder to the other side of the toilet so it isn't seen upon entering the room. For showings, turn on all the lights, including the ones in the toilet and shower areas....See Morewindsorhome
