Comments (24)Alrighty... I have been to JC Penny's (and a dz other stores) and am having trouble finding the right shade of grey. BUT- I have had no trouble finding blues!!!!! Would it be possible to bring blue into this room with window treatments and maybe a rug? These WT are from JC Penny's... they are not the right length, I just brought them home for color. It's a blue/grey... WDYT? Wide, just so you can see the color. and here they are more "closed" which is how I would hang them. I'm a little concerned they look "random"... like, where did I get the blue from? Thoughts? Also- we got our triple dresser. And *shudder* we got a new TV. We are not a big TV family (in fact, we just went from 1 TV to 2) but I like to watch the news as I get ready.... I know, I know... many of you are cringing. So am I. Until I get to watch the Today Show in the morning... I am feeling much more informed! ;) It's a beast. I also got a cute little (faux) orchid on clearence at Target. WDYT? How else do I decorate this wall (this is opposite the bed.)...See MoreNow I need help with window treatment for master bedroom
Comments (8)One of the 5 windows in my office has its right drape panel a bit behind a secretary desk in here. It doesn't bother me, but you may feel otherwise. My roller shades block the sun and gives me total privacy if I choose to close them at night. My shades cover the full glass part of my windows, but not the outside trim. My windows are standard double hung, and yours appear to be sliding windows. If you do get shades, no matter what material type, and close them at night (just an assumption on my part) wouldn't you need to raise them in order to open the window if you choose to? Would that bug you at all? I may be prejudiced toward drapes, as I make them myself and love fabrics, so change them more often than others might. Here is a pic that I found online with a window similar to yours that may help you decide....See MoreI need help selecting a window treatment for our master bedroom
Comments (31)Olivia- answering your question-I guess what you had originally is what I like. Navy curtains straight down. Skip the valance, would be great if you got rid of those wood blinds, but I understand if its a no go zone. Can I suggest room darkening curtains, they work well with blocking sunlight in the mornings. I did this in my room, just to avoid the whole blind thing and when I open the curtains the full window is exposed and lets in all the light. Agree with doods- longer rod, fuller curtains ( wider in size ). I have had 2 curtain panels stitched together to make a wider curtain before.. Not too high curtain rod setting either. Maybe a little puddling on floor to give it that romantic feel. Navy curtains I like, nice contrast against the lighter wall. Is that gold ( yellow ) in that artwork? ..so maybe add some gold accent in the room, either in throw blanket or throw pillow. Good luck!...See MoreWindow coverings for quiet in the bedroom!
Comments (15)Is the arched window a concern? Do you need light and noise control from it as well? If the answer here is yes then plantation shutters are what will need to go with. Due to your sloped ceiling you won't be able to install a rod above that window or a woven shade on that window. Additionally if privacy is a concern a woven shade generally has an open closed mentality. Meaning if you want any view or light in then they have to be pulled open. They do make top down versions but regardless they will always leave part of the window uncovered to get any light it. A shutter will allow you to angle the louvers to keep people from seeing in but still get light in the room during the day. You answer here is the shutter and then if you need a truly black room for sleep install black out drapery with the plantation shutters. That said there are other options....See Moreapple_pie_order
