How many inches above a console should a tv be mounted?
Comments (17)@ salonva, the height is based on 18" to the top of the sofa/chair cushion plus 24" for the eye-height of a person sitting there, which is 42"; others say 40" is optimum eye-height. People are not all the same height so this is a general guideline. My own TV has only a 32" picture and sits on a TV cabinet. The center of the screen is 43" above the floor. The bottom of the frame sits about 34" above the floor. Ultimately, this is a personal decision. If you are happy with the height of your TV that is what counts. You just don't want the screen to be too low or too high which stresses your neck. Some installers are recommending even more height for really large TVs so they feel more theater like. Be careful, very few people like viewing a movie from the front row of the theater....See MoreHow do I style under a wall mounted TV and in deep window sills?
Comments (26)I like the piece of art you have in the dining area of the last photo. I think maybe we should retreat to your original dilemma which was about how to display all your stuff. As before, I still suggest you divvy it up so it isn't all vying for our attention. Do you have storage bins under your bed? That's always a good idea for storing excess. Most of the decor items seem to be white ceramic and a few gold/brass pieces. If you want to utilize the window space, I would limit it to the two upper windows that appear as though they have shelves built in. The twisted gold piece and your other twisted white ceramic piece are both large enough to be seen well from those two locations. Separate hard and soft cover books. If you have enough hard covers to do the job, start with the tallest ones that will fit in the long cabinet openings and supplement with shorter ones. If you can manage to do all hard covers, that is a better choice than soft covers, but you can mix both if you have to. Can you get a 3rd bookshelf for the dining side of the column and style it in a similar fashion to the other ones?...See MoreWhat size TV should I mount over my fireplace?
Comments (10)The TV above a fireplace, unless you're sitting pretty far back, has you tilting your neck UP to watch. This gets old / tiresome, fast. That may not be a great place to put your TV, despite the convenience of it. I much prefer the TV to sit on something so that it's at eye level when we sit to watch....See MoreShould I wall mount TV or find a corner media console?
Comments (22)oh, ok yeah-- I see that the corner is the best spot. the fireplace is too tall and the ceiling too low. a TV would look crammed up there, plus it would be very uncomfortable. if the couch is the favorite seat, then I think the viewing angle would be best if you mounted it flat on the wall, not the corner. try it out-- find a small piece of furniture in your house (or a crate) to temporarily move over there, and set the TV on it to see if you like the angle. due to the heat pump, is the radiator decommissioned? can you remove it? or if it's still working, consider a custom piece that covers it on the left while allowing ventilation. I feel like something wide would balance the space: or a small piece that fits directly under doesn't have to be a TV console. it could be a bookcase or cubbies. I've even seen benches used for this. ikea Kallax -- 30.3" wide: bench:...See Moreseaquest22
