Thanks for responding Tami. I don't like to put anyone on the spot or sound demanding. Thanks Stacy, I did not know that about them having peroxide in them. I've Googled and Googled and get conflicting writing. Some say Cello is for vibrant color and some say it is subtle. Some say cover gray and some say it will take to gray differently than the rest of the hair. The sales people are no help even in the professional retail outlets. I had one experience with Cellophane in a salon in the 80s. The hairdresser and I communicated well. The owner came over and tried to tell her she was doing it all wrong and to make a long story short my hair came out Ronald McDonald orange instead of burgundy. The hairdresser seemed irked with the owner and was mum about it. I was horrified with the results but the owner insisted it was perfect. I went back to complain since my job told me they were going to fire me unless I got rid of it (as if I liked it any better than they did). They couldn't get it all out and tried numerous things. I had faded dull orange hair until it grew out. Despite that experience, I was thinking that if I did it myself I could do a good job of it. I just want the gray to blend in better and I thought a translucent color would do it. I tried researching it. I was thinking of a cool blond color to match my highlights.

We had a similarly dark kitchen when we moved into our current house. We had our maple cabinets painted when we moved in, which was five years ago. The painters sprayed the cabinets with a cabinet specific oil-based Ben Moore paint (can't remember the name) and five years later they look great, some marking on the pull-out garbage and a few other places, but that's about it. We also replaced the dark tile floor with white oak wide plank flooring, replaced the black appliances with stainless, the dark brown backsplash with subway tiles, and the red paint with off-white. It has helped a lot. However, it can't change the awkward layout. We are now in the process of replacing the cabinets and countertop and improving the layout (as much as we can since the space is awkward). As a stop-gap measure until we figured out what we wanted and had the budget to do so, painting the cabinets was great. It was also very affordable -- $600 bucks for 12x14 uppers and lowers and 8 feet of lowers on a peninsula.

Thank you again. I am thinking more darker or intense color which would be more cooler. I would definitely get couple of samples to see how they will look with my counter. I think I m actually going to go with the cream/white dove cabinets and charcoal grey island with white/Creme backsplash. In the end if we decide that we have a budget to do something with the floors, which tone of wood flooring or wood like tiles will go with this color choice ??? I personally like dark grey oak floors but right next to kitchen is living and foyer with light bamboo floors!!!!

I clean my painted cabinets with dish detergent and a sponge. Gentle enough to not harm the paint, but gets the grease off. Rinse. If the grease is really oxidized and stubborn, try Palmolive Eco automatic dishwasher liquid. I've had great success with this on painted, very dirty surfaces. Pour a little straight onto a wet, wrung out cloth and gently scrub, Rinse when all clean (wipe with clean wet cloth or sponge) Last resort would be a degreasing cleaner like Zep. Then get in the habit of wiping the dirtiest cabinets (highest use, spill/splash prone, next to the stove and so forth) down with soapy water and sponge at least weekly
