Dining area lighting, ongoing saga

So in my condo with concrete ceilings, there is no overhead light over the dining area. Cable lighting was recommended here and I love that idea and hope to do it. Several people suggested an arc floor lamp, which sounds annoying when you’re trying to serve a meal. Wondering instead about wall sconces as my backup option, something along these lines: https://www.wayfair.com/lighting/pdp/jane-1-light-dimmable-swing-arm-edgg1046.html I can easily have these hard wired in the wall, just nothing on the ceiling without a visible wire. Can I put sconces high enough to cast light across a table or will that look stupid?
