Please recommend lavender/light purple coloured hardy roses
Comments (10)Sandra Renaissance is probably the hardiest lavender that I grow. Fragrant Plum does well too. I also have Blue River and Melody Parfumme but they were new last year and I'm not sure yet if they survived. Neptune died of canker and wasn't very hardy. Paradise is another one that barely survives for me but it could be the cheap body bag specimen that I have. Ebb Tide and the Prince are both darker purples and both are hardy....See MoreLavender, Mauve & Purple Roses
Comments (53)I finally found this thread again. Couldn't get it through my head it was in the gallery and not the roses forum. And more gorgeous purples and lavenders have been added--every one of them is too lovely to pick a favorite. Vansunny, I especially love your Young Lycidas. It's the way I would like mine to look, rich color and full of petals. Karen, all those blooms are exquisite--I love Nightmoss. It's new to me. Is it a mini like Diamond Eyes? Steve, Olivia Rose is perfection. I can see why she's a winner. Diane...See MoreRole of weather conditions on coloring of purple/lavender roses?
Comments (6)I find purple roses are more true purple in cool weather and Ebb Tide, at least, fades a lot when temps heat up. Ascot and Twilight Zone don't fade much and I haven't seen any differences in Love song, Angel Face, or Blue Bayou. Big Purple (it's gone) turned magenta in the heat, and Blueberry Hill faded to white (it's gone) in the heat.Love song in the heat and newly planted. Tough rose, except in cold. Comments (59)Hi Carol, I'm following you around the forum, I guess. We're the two night owls--but I had a huge nap late in the evening, so now, of course, I'm wide awake. It was a nice day today--92F, actually, and tomorrow will be cooler yet. Then we have a high of 70F. Can you believe that? We're going into the season of up and down weather. But it's still horribly dry with no rain since May. I feel so badly for California and their awful fires. Over 4000 lightening strikes started the whole mess, and since Aug 15, 1.25million acres have burned, plus five deaths and 3500 structures destroyed. As you can guess, I read all this earlier in the day. We have lucked out with just a few smaller fires this season. I agree with your daughter about fall and allergies--they do get better. I suffer from them, too. Anyway, we had a nice BBQ, and my granddaughter Clare was over. She's feeling better, but the covid mess has been very hard on her. She actually had it, and has been over the stuff for several weeks now. What a relief. Have a nice day tomorrow. I don't suppose Canada has a Labor Day holiday tomorrow. Every day is pretty much the same around here. Diane...See Moresara_ann-z6bok
