Paula I am adept by now in pulling out few seedlings that germinated and planting them out while leaving rest alone to grow. With lupins they have long tap root. My action is- very gently with barbecue stick I disturb soil around seedlings slowly pulling them up only when I do not feel any resistance. If one has light approach it is not harmful to the plant. I also usually have all my seeds on top of the media so I can see what germinated and what now. I would say all hardy seedlings can go out now if they big enough for you handle. My area zip code is listed as above freezing temps for next 10 days, looks like most nights are in 40- good enough for me. I won't chance coleus until after mid May but begonias and torenias will go after May 1.

Sure. I just wanted to find out what type of plants they were, then planned to research each and see if/how I could propagate them. Then I planned to do so (if it was possible) and then train them to take over the world. Or, just to take over another windowsill in my home. :) In the 2nd plant - the adromischus - I thought maybe one of those large, sort of awkward leaves would be good for propagating, but I also wanted to be sure that removing one wouldn't take too much away from the original plant, kind of like what you're saying about them being on the small side....

Don't be too surprised if you repot and find out there's not a lot of root; they frequently don't have much. It's normal. Dracaena fragrans aren't heavy feeders; I have three At most, they get fed at a quarter normal rate (on the package of food) once a month during summer. They'll require only small amounts, so don't go overboard. Overfeeding will....kill the tips of the leaves, actually. :-) For now, leave the browning leaves. As most of them are browning, removing them wouldn't leave anything on the plant. They'll fall off when they want to and that's fine. Water these when they're fairly dry until fairly wet, then let go fairly dry before watering again. They can be a little prone to root rot if you let them stay too wet. One thing you can do is flush out the pot occasionally (yours is a challenge to handle with the size it is, though) by running water through it until a volume equal to the pot's volume has gone through and out the bottom. Count that as its watering and let it go dry before watering again. Do this...maybe once or twice a year to flush out salts.

if i had a window like that .. i would wonder how cold it might be in my MI ... in winter ... and i would consider that variable in plant choice .. for you ... where are you ... big city name ... and how about a pic of your room.. it would be best to make suggestions on your site.. rather than this random www pic ... ken ps: the thing that jumped out for me in the pic.. is all that glorious light ... and the darn thing is leaning ... one would think it would be bolt upright.. simply by turning it once every 3 months... which then made me think.. staged or photoshopped ... and then i lost interest ... because its fake ... and then i wondered what your situation was .. and then i decided i needed to stop drinking coffee because apparently i cant stop typing.. lol ... which is usually the case .. when the ps is longer than the original reply ... lol.. enough already ....
