How can I make this TV wall look better?
Comments (69)We have a rainy day here so I've been playing....beginning to think maybe less IS more: I moved the other two prints and put them on the walls beside the FP. I am warming up to this now; maybe I was used to having four prints, and now that they are still in the room, it maintains the continuity I was used to. And......back to the chairs; a pair of these PB chairs has been hiding in the recesses of our CL: Pottery Barn Calais chair in leather They are almost brand new so not exactly a fire sale price; they are asking $500 for the pair. I think that's a little high, but assuming the price was right, do you think they would finish things off well? Or should I leave well enough alone? I'd purchase them only if they are more comfortable than what I have, and I won't know that until I see them. I can't test the link until I post, but in case it doesn't show the right one, the CL chairs are brown leather with espresso stain legs. I still really like the sconces but wonder if this is just as nice in some ways. I am now looking at my FP and wondering if the sconces would look good on either side of my mirror! But, no worries, that will have to wait for another day, lol!...See MoreHow to redo this deck for more spacing and better look
Comments (1)i want to remodel this deck, any ideas how it would help me get more space for my small back yard? Should I move the stairs on the side yard?...See MoreSuggestions for a tragic solarium
Comments (16)It was originally a balcony off the master bedroom, which a past owner converted into a solarium. We definitely don't want to turn it back into a deck (we have a big back patio), and in Vancouver, enclosed space is definitely going to be more usable 8 months out of the year. Unfortunately, because it's technically "outdoor" space, drywall isn't an option (it's the exterior of the building under that wood). We were told it was cedar, which makes sense in Vancouver, though I'll look into whether it's actually something else. I appreciate all the suggestions so far! Keep them coming :)...See MoreHow can i make my room look better?
Comments (8)Your idea books show your love of traditional library decor and rich colors. I think. That your current wall color, however, clashes with the lovely color of your new sofa bed. And you do seem to have too much furniture in the room at this point. I think that I would, first, strip all of your wall paper and prime your walls. Then I would fin a traditional oriental style rug for your room and center it. From the rug, I would choose a complimentary color for your walls. Then....I would begin to build your room. The perfect location for your “library area” would be in the nook where your sofa currently resides. The entire wall could be book shelves. What kind of storage does your room require? (There is no closet.). Do you need the little glass cases in the corner? If you need a dresser for guests, the large dresser will work. You could place the tv on it or hang it on the wall above it. Your sofa needs end tables with reading lamps on it. I think the sofa would look best on the top wall in the room. Centered. The TV on the left wall as you enter it. And the room could use a chair in which to sit and read, too. Located close to the window with the radiator on the right, and in front of your library wall. This is a one step at a time project. But I would start with finding a lovely rug for your room that works with the sofa. Good luck!...See MoreJeanne Cardwell
