Comments (26)I don't watch any of those other shows either. We only have cable because DH can't give up his sports and news. I do miss shows like Christopher Lowell. I would watch more if there were more shows like his. I'm sorry but I don't find them genuine at all. I live in a very rural area with housing values lower than Waco so I'm not speaking from any kind of "snob" angle. His antics, like described in the posts above, are disgusting and then she does the eye rolls and laughs and it all seems so phony to me. I also have a real distaste for people putting their kids on national TV to make a buck. Too much time wasted on him and the kids and not enough time detailing the decorating, imho. Although, since all homes look the same to me, maybe they need to fill the redundancies with the kid/DH stuff just to fill the time?...See MoreChip & Joanna Gaines - Season 5 Of ‘Fixer Upper’ Will Be The Last
Comments (22)Didn't they preview at the last show of last season a "new" show -- Behind the Design where she explains her choices, etc. on what goes into the design of the house? I wonder if that didn't get good ratings and will not go forwrard this season? I like the interaction between the two although I do think that the show is staged and what looks like a normal easy life (play with the kiddos, go show houses and then work on THAT house, kiddos come by with cupcakes while Momma works the night away) is not quite like that in reality. But, hey, look at Martha Stewart who on her show was the one that shoveled the compost, made a 9 course dinner and made fabulous crafts for centerpieces when in reality it took a whole crew to do that! So all on TV is not what it seems. I wish them well and I think that with everything that they've got going BECAUSE of the show (let's face it, there would be no mechandise, no books, no silos if there was no show) that they should do well. I'm sure even without a show they will be in demand for personal appearances and as I understand the daily count of visitors to Waco and Magnolia Market is in the THOUSANDS....See MoreFor Those Interested: The Making of Magnolia Table
Comments (11)I stopped watching Fixer Upper after the episode in which Chip was playing around with a football inside a house they were showing to a client and he hit Joanna in the head with it—accidentally, obviously—-but never apologized on camera. That schtick of him being an unruly child and her the stern mother was too Freudian and sexist for me to continue to watch. I liked maybe one third of her work but not her signature touches of plants hanging in pockets on the wall (where they couldn’t be reached to water), open kitchen shelving of slabs of wood, and black pipes, etc. I also wanted to brush her daughters” hair every time I saw them. Her own hair was always perfectly groomed....she couldn’t spare a minute to run a comb through theirs? On another note entirely I read a magazine article in which she claimed God spoke to her in an audible voice telling her to create great things under the Magnolia name. That’s when I knew she worshipped her own ambition 😎...See MoreA peek at the Gaines’ farmhouse addition
Comments (36)Apparently the like the room so it must work for them. I don't agree with the comment that the room is too small. Some people do not like massive rooms. I do agree they could use more seating. Maybe they have some floor cushions, etc. Also, I actually like the bit wall piece mainly because it is unique. Looks to work great for the books/storage. I love the windows in the room. Perhaps they have some kind of game room/family room where they do other activities. I've only seen their shows a few times but now that we have Discovery+ app, I might check them out! Great job on your cabinets @lakeaffect_gw!!! I have toyed so often with having our cabinets painted! Just can't decide. Maybe someday!...See MoreKiriosities
