Help - what to do with my fireplace??
Comments (12)Thank you for your suggestions! strategery, to demolish the fireplace would be very costly and that's not in the budget. Plus, it's a functional fireplace and the only heat in that room - refacing it should be fine, I just don't know what to reface it with : -) tatts, I don't know what bluestone is but I'll google that! Beth H. great suggestions! I like the idea of something different, although with it being tiled from floor to ceiling, I'm gun shy about doing anything too busy and having to coordinate other furnishings to a bold design. I especially love the tile in your second photo. It looks like Tabarka Tile, which I'm in love with, but I figured out the square footage and the tile alone would be about $2K and I don't think I can stretch the budget that far. I love Fireclay also but the lead time on their tile is about 8 weeks and I don't have that long. I think the blue herringbone tile is a good look - I wouldn't do blue, probably something more muted, but do you think that look would be OK from floor to ceiling without being too busy?...See MoreAm I asking the right people to do a fireplace remodel???
Comments (1)I’d say stick to the fireplace professionals in your area, they know what they’re doing. It’s “high season” in the fireplace industry right now so they’re likely very busy, but outright no-shows aren’t cool at all! Some places will do fireplace supply & install only, and leave you to find your own suppliers and contractors for the mantel and surround - others will be more full service and take care of everything from demo to finish including procuring the finishing materials and permits. Call more fireplace retailers, and ask your friends and neighbours. Somebody has referral for you to a company they had work done by and can vouch for. Good luck!...See MoreRemodeling Fireplace w/ Shiplap - What to do with gas valve?

Comments (13)I also have similar cabinets I chose to keep and work with because they are real wood and in great condition and quite frankly I didn’t want to spend $15k on new cabinets that aren‘t even real wood. . As I’m picking out new items I’m finding that they are really growing on me. Makes me feel like my Mom, she loves her oak! I’m doing a lighter beige colored counter and farmhouse sink....See Moreashtonchic
