My son and his fiance met on line and chatted back and forth for a while before actually meeting. Depends on how you define "successful", doesn't it?

Staying power: It's a Wonderful Life (although it wasn't too successful when first released!)

Box office: Home Alone (also I'd say a runner up in staying power)

Number of versions/remakes: A Christmas Carol

ETA: my personal favorite is the Natalie Wood version of Miracle on 34th Street, followed by the George C. Scott A Christmas Carol. But I don't think either would be "most successful".

Do the Peanuts holiday TV movies qualify? A Charlie Brown Christmas might rank up there.

In this house, the most successful would be How the Grinch Stole Christmas, or White Christmas. They both get watched a lot.

Die Hard....Not really a Christmas movie in my book but because it takes place at Christmas time the Die Hard's consider it such. :-)))

Miracle on 34th St. is my favorite. I know everyone likes It's a Wonderful Life but I was just reading some little known facts about it the other day and apparently it was a flop in the theater and only started becoming popular in 1974.

I will also add Rudolph the Red Noise Reindeer but I understand that will be banned soon because some people don't like the bullying part in the beginning of the movie.

My favorite Christmas movie is Auntie Mame.

Otherwise, I vote for Miracle on 34th Street.

I have been wracking my brain all day because I wanted to remember which not really Christmas movie was a Christmas movie. Finally came up with it and Georgysmom and blfenton beat me to it! Die Hard. Helps that it is on tonight! Hahaha

Just remembered that lots of people like Love Actually. I finally got to watch it and have no idea why it's so popular. Lots of big names all of whom I like but was not overwhelmed with the movie. Thought it kind of stupid.
