If you must “always be selling”, please do so with facts. Aluminum corrodes. The powder coating also helps to extend the life of the pole from corrosion. Some poles can be replaced. Fiberglass ribs are definitely great for areas with strong winds. Everyone shops based on their personal decisions of cost/benefit and hopefully using objective research.

We just bought a sunbrella at Costco. It was $99. It has the little slits on top and a tilt top. We also bought a granite stand for it. We had extremely bad winds a few days ago and stood up just fine, though that could be due to the heavy base as much as the unbrella. Then I saw them listed in the Ballard's catalog for closer to $400. I'm happy with my choice as I could not see spending so much for an umbrella, though mine only came in tan and you got choice of color at Ballards. I also saw some in the new Pottery Barn catalog and they have several there in different colors as well in the $100+ price range.

I should have mentioned this. That pic was from last summer when we first got it. Initially we slipped the iron base beneath the deck railing for stability. It worked until one day when we got strong wind gusts (it's a 2nd story deck) and I saw the base had been pulled out and the umbrella looked like it was ready to launch. I ran to grab it and thought I was going to levitate like Mary Poppins! So now we have it secured - as was recommended on the instructions - with four patio blocks that fit in notches on the base. No issues at all since then. here's a pic of the base and one with it closed. Not too droopy, IMO

I worked in a palce with aroof top patio and no way could we keep the umbrellas from getting airborne even when the base was really heavy the wind would get the unbrella spinning in the stand and then the screw holding the umbella would break and off the umbrella would go. We finally did sails at least when they tore loose no one was injured . I would do ails and I agree there are always ways to attach them . I love roof top terraces but they do present issues for sure . You could do some of those heavy stands with posts to attach the sails to and that IMO would be the best do the sails out of solar shade material so that the wind can go though I think that would work
