Stairs in lake condo

We bought a lake condo. There are luxury vinyl plank floors throughout - except on the stairs. There is shaggy, yucky carpet! We want to replace with some sort of hard surface. We were left one box (12 pieces) of the vinyl. I can not locate this material for the life of me. There are 16 steps so this is not enough material to use for all. What is the best option for this place? We want it to look nice, but this is a lake condo so we want to mindful of expense.

The part that puzzles me the most is how to tie in the existing flooring at the top. Seems like our choices are:

  1. try to locate a vinyl stair tread with built in nosing that closely resembles the coloring we have.

  2. choose a completely different vinyl stair tread color and go with that, not trying to match our existing

  3. use hardwood stair treads and stain to try and match existing flooring

  4. use hardwood stair treads and stain a completely different color so we don’t miss the mark or matching existing.

  5. any other options?
