Draperies - More Pictures
Comments (33)Sheila - I LOVE that recliner! The fabric is gorgeous, and it is priced well. Plus, it seems to have good reviews. I like the red or the black fabric print. We aren't big folks at all, but we do have a couple of people in our family who visit now and then who are. I completely agree about the expense of furniture issue. On the one hand, I don't want the furniture to wear out in five years, but on the other hand, I don't want to break the bank either. The hardest part for me right now is coordinating. The room is large, and I don't feel confident in my ability to mix and match pieces, etc. I know what I like, just not how to pull it all together. For example, does all of the furniture in the room need to be covered with the same fabric? I'm hoping not. I'd rather mix it up a bit. So it will be great to see what the designer comes up with. work in progress - Like you, the combination of many large windows and not necessarily liking everything out there caused me to wait over two years to buy drapery panels. The panels are Brookside Diamond by Country Curtains in the espresso color (also comes in cream and rose). The quality is excellent. They cost $129 per pair in the 96" length. For one thing, the fabric is heavy (73% rayon and 27% polyester). I didn't purchase them lined because it costs $60 per pair (and I have 15 panels!), plus I didn't want any white showing on the sides, etc. I hope I don't regret that, and I don't think I will, as the fabric is heavy as it is. I ordered a sample before purchasing. I pressed each panel before hanging with my steam iron, and they barely needed that. I hate wrinkles and was really concerned about it, but they ironed easily. I'm posting a link below to the Country Curtains site. Anyway, I can't tell you how much warmer the room feels. What a difference. I understand your feelings about "taking the plunge". My advice is to take your time making up your mind and finding something you really like before buying. Comments (104)Here they are. Because the second one sort of shows the mesh background in between, I took the liberty of choosing a color from within the tile itself and using it as a grout color, I can do a darker/lighter grout if you like. After seeing it in the mockup, I like it better than the picture of just the tile sample. But I still think I like the top one better. Here they are in order of the samples above... That was fun, got any more?!;) Hmm, after looking at it again, maybe I should tone them down a bit because the lighting in your kitchen is dimmer than the lighting on the samples. I'll work on that a little later...gotta go feed the kiddos now! Robin...See MoreRefinishing character grade white oak to bare look?
Comments (10)I picked up some sample boards today of the engineered floor I am currently liking, Opus Premium European Oak Naples. Here it is pictured vs. my current hardwood below. Opus Naples below current mixed width 4-5-6-7 character grade oak below Seeing the comparison in my house leads me to a couple of thoughts. First, I want to make sure this wide-plank look will stand the test of time. If I commit to it, my best bet may be to replace all of the hardwood I currently have with the engineered, which seems to defeat the purpose of getting solid hardwood in the first place. I currently have about 1500 square feet of hardwood that will be refinished and another 1500 square feet of new to be added. If I calculated correctly, it may be less expensive to replace all with the engineered, if we do our own demo. My concern here is if the wide plank is right for my house in the Midwest and if this particular flooring brand is the best way to achieve it and if I will be happy with this decision five years from now! Secondly, if we keep our current floor, I am thinking that the grain and knots of the character grade will jump out even more with a light finish that may not give me the lighter, raw-looking clean finish that I like.....raw, but busy. Lastly, I feel like my best bet may be to keep what I have, install the same throughout the first floor and then, maybe pick a size like 5" and install a uniform plank upstairs in solid and then, figure out the stain once the floors are installed. At least that way, if my contractor and I cannot figure out the perfect formulation to achieve the look I love, I can resort to something darker that I would be happy with as well. Any insight appreciated!...See MoreHas anyone installed Fabrica hardwood floors?
Comments (18)So far, so good. We’re a little over a year with them. We have a few places that are knicked around the kitchen table from the chairs. We did have one board that splintered just a little at the end and I caught my sock on it and lost a little piece of the finish. I think we’re pretty hard on them overall and they hold up well to small dogs, water, and I’ve dropped some pretty heavy things without damaging them. Hope that helps....See Morelarry o
