Plumbing Bathrooms Design Dilemma

Mixing metals bathroom - dilemma

Hi! We are currently building our first house. We bought our shower a few month ago and didn’t realize that the drain, handle, frame, etc is chrome. We order nickel faucet for the kitchen and bathroom vanity, shower, bathtub, etc. My question si : is it going to look weird?

We wanted to mix brushed nickel with brass vanity light.

Option 2 : if we go with chrome everywere in the bathroom and nickel faucet in the kitchen, is it going to be ok ?

Who would ever notice? Not me. I have chrome and brushed nickel in the same bathroom and never worried about it. What you’re doing is no weirder than using two different colors of paint in your house. I know it’s your first house and you’re probably worried about every little decision. However, allow yourself to move on to stuff that really matters; this is a non-issue.

Not sure that is the sconce I'd select for a bath. It's not the metals, it's the overall look. I don't think the light would be enough for a bath.

Hmm. Well, I am usually somewhat in favor of not worrying about mixing metals. But I am not sure in this case what you suggest is advisable, nor that it will fix your "contrast" concerns. I would consider something other than gray on the walls to avoid a completely gray and white color scheme, and would leave the fixtures as you have them.

Choosing a “gold tone” faucet is a tricky proposition. There are so many variations…Which finish do you like better? Faucets are more noticeable…you will see/touch them every time the bathroom is used. The light fixture would work better with faucets that are a satin, antique, less shiny brass finish. And if you’re black-framed mirror is metal…you’re already mixing metals.
