Need advice choosing a siding color for a new Victorian style house
Comments (3)We aren't going quite that bright, but I appreciate your input! I'm getting some samples this week from our lumber yard - Certainteed's "Ivy Green" and also all the following from Sherwin Williams - Roodwood Blue Green, Rookwood Sash Green & Dried Thyme. Has anyone had any experience with any of these colors for your exterior?...See MoreStyling my existing house to a mid century modern
Comments (35)I have a house that's very MCM on the inside and rather ordinary looking outside. we updated our garage door and it made a huge difference. (it's like the one pictured below, but in white.) I really like the mockups celerygirl posted. I think her ideas are going to be your best bet. you're not going to really be able to make your home look like a true midcentury, but improvements such those will make it look up to date and MCM inspired. I think funky landscaping can really help, and don't forget little touches like lighting....See MoreModern Victorian in a 90s home.
Comments (20)tartanmeup- Yes, I did see it and I fell in love! I’ve been going back to it as I search for items to bring into the room and I’ve just been stumped because I haven’t felt like my room fits the mold to make it look right. That’s why I came here. Ha ha! I don’t know how far to go in either direction to make it work. Do I add Victorian pieces/styles at this point? Do I add modern? I’d also like a chandelier and there’s one I LOVE from Arhaus, though not liking the price 😣and not sure if it’s too much. We have the ceiling height for it......See MoreCurb appeal help for 1978 Tutor or Alpine Chalet or Modern Style house
Comments (19)Nice house. Like your front door and the entry you've created. Would not add shutters to any windows. it is the contrasting trim, even without steep roof lines, suggests the Tudor vibe. The two story roof being extended over the entry suggests the Chalet vibe -- but it also could be a more modern or even a mid-century modern vibe without the contrasting trim. Would want the entire house one color -- no contrasting trim color and no contrasting garage door color. That said, IF you want your front entry to be m ore dominant, painting the entry porch ceiling and the walls beneath it and the porch post a different color -- or different shade of the same color -- as the siding could help make your entry the focal point of the front of the house....See MoreRelated Professionals
