Did your doctor mention your toothbrush? A few years ago, my mom was treated for a fungal infection that had settled in her throat causing pain. When filling her prescriptions, the pharmacist suggested a new toothbrush at the beginning of her treatment (it was a rinse with which to gargle and an oral tablet to be taken for a week) followed by another new toothbrush at the end/last day of treatment.

She was feeling great again within 48 hours, finished the treatment and its never returned.

I’ve had thrush a few times. Always caused by Prednisone or by inhaler use. It’s an easy fix. My allergist asked me what did I do when I use my Symbacort morning and night. Told him I brush my teeth right after. He was happy to hear that.

Sal, that is great news. Had same few years back , think all I had to use was magic mouthwash that pharmacy mixed with my doctor’s instructions. It cleared very quickly. Keep us posted. Hope yours clears soon.

Yes, new toothbrush and again after treatment. You (the general you) should always get a new toothbrush after a cold or the flu as well.

I've heard of thrush in babies but not in adults. Hope it clears up soon and I'm glad you had it checked out.

Wow...never realized that was part of it. I don't believe I have ever heard of

an adult having it either. Great news...that you will soon be rid of it!!!! Be

safe and take care of yourself.

Perhaps the information has changed but be aware that oral thrush can be transferred to a partner's sexual organs, male or female. That part of the body can have the correct moisture etc. It can then be passed back and forth in what were called ping pong infections.

My allergist told me to rinse my mouth and gargle after using my inhaler.

kathyg and katlan, same here. The instructions with my inhaler says to rinse the mouth after using the inhaler. I've always made sure to do that, even so I've had a thrush before. I always take my morning pills right after using the inhaler so feel I'm safe.

A friend had that recently and it took quite awhile to eradicate it. Her doctor was on leave so another doc wrote her prescription, and the dosage wasn't strong enough. I hope it's quick for you.

Wow, hubby had thrush from some of his cancer meds. Salty wasn't an indicator, but his tongue was coated when his nurse checked him out.

A good-tasting (so he said) mouthwash, which he swishes and swallows. It was cleared up quickly.

Glad you know what it is and have the meds to clear it up.

College I had a condition, don't know what it was called, but I had to swish my mouth several times a day with peroxide. Solved my problem whatever it was.
