the big deal???? i have 300 hundred different hosta.. that look exactly the same.. lol ... only the label tells them apart ... i also have a 6 and 10 year old.. that kill brain cells ... lol ... if i were to volunteer .. to copy my pix.. burn them to a CD and send them to you.. i could accomplish that in about 30 seconds... you would have to take the time to label them all .... or i wouldnt bother looking at them ... ken wrote.. for some reason he didnt want to post.. claiming that one should ALWAYS take pix at the largest size .... if you ever plan on sending a pic for publication .... or a website.. that is a good idea.. but if you have an older computer... you will crash the thing .. if you pile up 1000 full size pix.. you will have a hard time opening files due to the shear size ... i just dont see why i need them that big .... and i dont have time to go edit every file ... when i take 50 or 60 files ... chime back here ken.. cbiii ken

The camera I was referring to about videoing and being better was the Sony HD (Handycam) HDR-CX260. The new camera before that was a Samsung HD- it seem to have multiple problems like with focus, sound and stability. The camera before that was my original Kodak EasyShare that just started having multiple problems too- it was a good camera. The cameras I have for monitoring outside are the IR night vision. I have 16 of them now to monitor the birds and any other activities I have around the house. I did install mine myself and have them all hard wired (I can't use wireless) . You might have better luck with the wireless than I did (frequency issues). The wireless are easy to install, it's also the best bang for you buck. First I have to confess that I have not gotten to backing up the hard drive - or working on the start up programs. Other computer issues in the family took priority - and then we had non-technological family difficulties. So my focus has been elsewhere. The internet connection still sometimes drops. Less often but it happens. I can just buy a wireless dongle. The laptop had been running cooler after getting all the bogus programs off. But lately it's sluggish again and running hot. The hard drive is making a bad noise. Not sure how to describe it but kind of like a car struggling to turn over. It does it just occasionally - some times if it's just trying to perform some action - and just now when I started the laptop. (It has not made the sound since it started up). Since hard drives are mechanical, does this sound like the hard drive might be failing? if it's hardware failure, is there any point in running chkdsk? or any other test? If the hard drive is failing, could that be causing it to run hot and slow at times? seems logical to me but I have no idea. I could inexpensively replace the hard drive. And get a wireless dongle. I imagine all that could be done for under $100 and just a small amount of time. The other troubleshooting I did was partly to learn. Here's what I like about the computer and why I may want to save/keep it: great size - 13", light - but has a great, great keyboard for such a small laptop. like the trackball and no touchpad. includes a free upgrade to Vista (so it could be used after XP is not supported) What I don't like: ongoing wireless adapter problems, sometimes running hot, possible failing hard drive, no web cam. Not sure if I'll put it to sleep soon - or try to resuscitate it. If I decide to let it die a peaceful death, there's no need to back up the HD. If I decide to replace the hard drive (if it needs it) or keep it if the HD's fine, I will back it up and make that a priority. And of course, now that I'm writing this post, it's behaving absolutely fine. Quick, cool, no noise. Thanks. Lynn.

From my own recent experience...I agree with Raven. I had shut down IE some time ago and then decided it might be well advised to reopen it to have the option of a second browser. I, basically, live in the Firefox world so it'll take some re-educating to get used to IE again. In any case...IE appeared to be broken when I attempted to resurrect it. My home page wouldn't load correctly and there were a few other little annoyances. I discovered...after tearing my hair out for a while...that it, indeed, was an add-on that was causing the problem. In my case...it was Adobe's shockwave flash and their regular flash. I disabled both and viola...IE v.11 is happy again. When I have more time I'll test other flash versions and mosey around IE to see what else I can do...but for the time being...it's very functional. HTH Anne
