Here's my kitchen - need backsplash ideas!
Comments (27)Most who do the Fire & Ice get the quartz which is lighter. There is also the Fire & Ice in slate which is more colorful/dramatic. If you are leaning toward understated the Grazia rixi is a very pretty tile. Grazia makes other series besides rixi that you might want to check out. I agree with previous poster-not too blown away by your samples but then we are seeing them on our monitors so maybe in real life they look great with your floor, counters, cabinets. I would do one extreme (understated/calm/elegant-maybe marble) or the other (glass, colorful, dramatic but classy at the same time). Your counter is pretty neutral so you have soooo many choices open to you. Another thought-do something like the Fire & Ice behind your stove continuing up to the ceiling and then something understated/calm on the other spaces??? Pick one of the colors in the F & I that matches with one of the colors in your floor and use that in 4 x 4 or 6 x 6 or whatever size you decide for the other areas. Just an idea....See Moreneed backsplash ideas for open kitchen/ cinnamon cabinets/beige quartz
Comments (39)Thanks mayflowers. I am sure people are tired of looking at my kitchen at this point, but this is such a hard decision, because it is so permanent! The two ideas I am now considering are: (1) your idea of cream tile matching the wall color (though I cannot really find one that truly comes close to the wall color) and (2) still considering a sage green tile, but I feel like that may take away from my green shelves. I am considering square, rectangular sizes/ different layouts of tiles at this point at this point. as for area, I am just considering doing the area under the wall from the cabinet to the left of the stove to under the microwave. May or may not run it up in the corner to the first green shelf. I am also going to leave the area in the third picture without a backsplash (the pic with the glass cabinets)....See MoreKitchen Backsplash ideas needed!
Comments (6)My neighbor with a similar look did a herringbone pattern with a light tile that was close to a light color in her countertop - I think she went with cream or white and no contrast in the grout. Like you she has an over the range microwave and I thought the herringbone would not look as good restricted to the space between counter and cabinets, but it looks very nice. Just do the wall with the range - don't turn the corner by the door. If your flooring and counter are cool tones - go more white (possibly light gray if there is a light gray in the countertop). My neighbor's flooring and counter read warm, so cream was a possible choice. Herringbone is just one idea. I would keep the tile a simple color - no mosaics. The countertop is very pretty and you don't want it to fight with a backsplash. You can look at different tile shapes if you want something different then a subway tile....See MoreNeed Attractive Design Ideas For Kitchen Backsplash!
Comments (2)your best bet would be to get the same countertop material cut to fit as the bottom trim portion. the other option, get a vinyl piece of window molding and caulk all around the joint lines with a 100% silicone caulking, (the same you would use around a bathtub) the silicone caulk for sealing is what you need, regardless. when you take off the current piece, put a fan on it so it can dry. make sure you don't have any mold growth....See MoreDAVID HERNANDEZ
