Yes, much too dark, for me. And cheerless. Dust & lint since it's also a laundry room will be a constant.

Laundry rooms are where you can have some fun with color. Real color. Cheery ones that make you not mind having to do laundry.

Thank you—good advice! Options that are “standard colors” (ie. less expensive) from our cabinetry maker are SW’s Clary Sage or Unusual Gray (green undertones). Maybe I’ll compare these instead.

Personal opinion only but I prefer Clary Sage over Unusual Gray. Except it looks like CS has a lot of yellow in it (in some pix). I like sages that lean blue. How does the graphite gray work w/ CS? Think I would prefer white appliances with it if you don't already own the W&D...

Unsolicited opinion but....Honestly, w/ 5 small kids, I would go with natural wood/ lightly stained wood cabinets, not painted ones. Least ways, I would given what my kids were like. :-) (There is a very good chance that your kids are a tamer/ more tame-able breed of animal.)

IMO a natural wood finish would be a better choice with kids and boots and whatever else they can throw at it . At least then a ding can be fixed or just ignored with life . I think any paint finish will be dinged in no time

I love it. I had this on my dining room walls though so no issues with dings etc.

We're doing a similar color (Benjamin Moore Mt Etna) for cabinets in 2 bathrooms, but the laundry room will be Friendly Yellow cabinets. Agree with the sentiment that you might want to make it a more cheerful space.

I also think that a light color stain would look good and be more practical. You should also check the pricing difference, in my case the stained finish was 20% less than painted.

We're having a similar unit built for our mudroom; going with a natural finish quarter sawn white oak. But for contrast probably a walnut benchtop.
