Kitchen peninsula covering ideas

I’m looking for advice on what materials I might use to cover the painted drywall above the peninsula and on the sides. The house which was built in 1952 was renovated before I bought it with the peninsula added to cover the top of the stairwell going to the basement. The corian countertops are great for prep but the white painted drywall around it and on top gets dirty. I will be difficult to match the grey tile on the rest of the walls as the seller did not provide me the specs. That said there is probably not enough clearance on the side with the drawer and cabinet for tile. Are there any other surface coverings that might work to allow for easy cleaning that would tie in with the white and grey kitchen?
