Start with the chandelier. Which of the several Pottery Barn Clarissa chandeliers do you like?

I would not start with the chandelier. I would start with, artwork, area rug, Mirror, tho I am not sold on the mirror because it will reflect the wall behind it and th chandelier, not sure how much "light" it will reflect.

Second, then I would move to light, have someone move the electrical to the center if it cannot be moved you want to use something that you can swag to center easily. So I would not go linear. For that reason and b/c your room isnt that large so it would be rather chunky in the space as well as only being seen from the narrow side for the most part.

Thanks RL. I think you’re right about a linear fixture. Rug- I’ve been thinking about a rug. I would need a 8 x 12 at least for the chairs to pull out under a rug. I have a golden that sheds tumbleweeds everyday. Also wondered about it being in the pathway from the kitchen to the back door. It would look better with a rug though. Definitely new art. It’s a beautiful chandelier but it will fight with the style of your room unless you follow it with some big changes, including the dining room table. I see Red floors and green walls. If not a rug to tie these elements together then paint the walls and add some window coverings to balance the red floor. What colors do you like?

I’m ready to make some changes in the room except the floor and the buffet- I like it. This medallion is on my kitchen floor. So as far as colors, I’m thinking terra-cotta, White, Black (or dark brown) green plants and maybe a color scheme like the second picture. I am still considering a rug. I Could run the rumba every day. 😜. Thank you for the advice! I need it!

The green walls and reddish floor do not work for me. I love the floor though. I would paint the walls a lighter cream taupe color and add crown moulding. Switch out the chairs for upholstered ones matching the paint color. Then a fancier chandelier might work, but I think that one you picked doesn’t quite work with the floor.

I like the floor and the green walls. Lovely. I agree with a rug to give some softness and larger artwork.

The table is not centered under the light OR the buffet which engages my OCDness. Does the table need to be pulled toward the viewer? Is it centered on the bay window? Should it be turned 90 degrees? Hmmm.

And this is just a personal preference, but I’d clear everything off the buffet top except for ONE thing.

Lilbug- OCD yes! The buffet is centered, but the light fixture isn’t. It drives me crazy. The table is centered on the bay window. I had the table turned but it’s 6’ long and the room is only 8’ wide so it felt cramped. It’s 13’ long. In this position, there is about 3’ clearance all the way around so people can push chairs out. This was my original post- does the table work. I liked another suggestion of upholstered chairs. The paint is SW Sawdust 6158. 4’ w x 3’ h mirror over the buffet?

I had a light fixture not centered over my table. I just had a handyman install a hook over the table and swagged my existing fixture over. I had plenty of chain to be able to do that. I thought I’d do that as a temporary fix, but it’s been a year and I like it just fine the way it is.

Here is one from Lowe’s that we just hung in my neighbor’s house they have coordinating flush mount ones that we put in her hall and foyer also. I’m not usually a matchy matchy person but these lights are just beautiful when put on a dimmer. And priced super reasonable.
That floor skews rustic Italian countryside to me, and I love it!

I like what RL did also breaking up the table and floor with a rug works well -the colors of the two are very similar so a rug adds depth and interest. Breaks up all the orange tones.

I would use round table if your family is not large. You can get one with extension for when you have company. But I love the look of round dining table next to bay window..
